Usually someone tries (to no great end) to get a Pro Bowl vote and teams going. Anyone already planning on giving this a shot this season for Zeta? If not, then I'll likely give it a go and see what we can come up with this season.

How do you measure the performance of any player when there is such a great difference of levels between teams.
Just because my QB has got 400 yds today is not better than probably your QB even though he might have had a bad game today. Also, just relaying on levels is not a good thing as most builds are closed and so it's impossible to compare.
If you are trying to get this going, the first thing you may want to do, in my opinion, is set the rules.
Good luck

well, builds being closed shouldnt mean anything. Just like the NFL, its all about stats and some teams have the benefit of playing the Detroit Lions twice while others none. Besides, if anyone gets upset they dont make a pro bowl in this game because of some "injustice", then they have bigger issues they need to deal with.

I don't have everything in my mind on paper, but the way I had intended spins the way it's usually done a little but evens things out over the course.
At this point I'm really just trying to see if there's an interest.
The way I see it:
The owner or GM designated of each team nominates the top two people for each position. Only 1 of their nominees can be from their own team.
After all nominees are in, I'd put the list together of those nominated.
There would be two teams formed based on voting that would follow.
Coaches Team:
This would be similar to the NFL Pro-Bowl roster starter/back-up wise. Each team would vote for both starters and backups from the list. A starting vote is worth 2pts, a backup vote is worth 1 point. The highest point totals fill out the team. (this is similar to the usual voting system used on the boards)
Popular Team:
This would consist of just starter (11-O, 11-D, K, P, KR, PR) rolls and would be voted on by the players. I would set the nominees up for voting at a free polling site and make a post that each owner could copy and put up in their respective team forums. Everyone gets to vote and the highest votes at each position make the team.

I don't want to argue for a silly thing like this, but in no way it's similar to compare the Detroit Lions with, for instance, our Rome Ramblin' Thornites.
I haven't seen any team in the NFL scoring over 100 points on the opponent, even if it's the Detroit Lions, and it happens quite often here in this game.
What I mean is that is quite difficult to be accurate when there is such big disparity.
I don't mind if my players get voted or not, I won't get anything for it, I believe that NotRippedYet idea was just for fun, but I feel I could express my thoughts about it.

Yeah it's definately just for fun. The other thing to keep in mind is it's a conference thing, not a league one, so outside of the 1st game of the year, everyone has the same opponents, so the stat-padding games are the same for everyone.

Correct. The NFL does not give Russel a handicap because he's not much of a real QB.
It's all about performance over the course of the season regardless of how great or horrid the opposition is.
Yes, the build does not mater.

If you want to post some kind of template where owners could copy it and paste it on a team thread then the votes could be tallied by owners.

The votes don't have to be based strictly on stats either, individuals can look at game film of players against their team and evaluate a players dominance

How did I miss this thread? This is an awesome idea and it's so easy. The Zeta All Star Team has already been assembled, Chuck!
In all seriousness though, if we can get everyone to participate, this is a lot of fun and it's always cool to see who everyone picks.
If you need help working on this, let me know.
