Week 6 Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)

Last week’s rankings: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=168338

I could use some help doing these, so if any of the owners/GM's or even people on the team could PM me what you thought went right and wrong in your games (like what I've done here), it would save me a bunch of time. Thanks

Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them

1. Waco Davidians
2. Great Plains Reapers (formerly Denver Pirates)
3. Oakland Wizards
4. Dallas Red Raiders
5. Hartford Hellhounds
6. Las Vegas Stunners
7. Bel Air Beardogs
8. New Brunswick n00bs
9. Scottsdale Sun Demons
10. Spicewood Longhorns
11. Portland Hitmen
12. Miami Cyclones
13. RGB Berzerk
14. Chicago Clams
15. Grand Haven Mists
16. Ambridge Brigade

1. Waco Davidians - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1220
What went right: Kick/Punt Returns – Once again, they got extra points from their special teams when Marty Motallico ran a punt back for a TD. Add that to some very long kick and punt returns and the Davidians’ offense had great field position when they started their drives.
What went wrong: Pass Offense – While not horrible, the QB threw 2 INTs and the receivers dropped 2 balls. Fortunately for Waco, none of the INTs turned into points and they were able to make major passing plays when they needed to.
Recent Game: W 21-7 at Las Vegas
Record: 6-0
Previous Rank: 1
Next Game: vs Ambridge Brigade

2. Great Plains Reapers (formerly Denver Pirates) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1212
What went right: Pass Offense – With a ridiculous 80+% completion rate, the Reapers’ aerial assault was too much for Hartford’s secondary to handle. If they can keep that completion rate up, the Reapers will be very hard to beat the rest of the seasons
What went wrong: Run Offense – While their run offense did a respectable job with a 2.6 yd/carry average, they got tackled in the backfield 7 times, which can really kill a team when they’re driving down the field. On top of that, the backs fumbled the ball twice and were fortunate to fall on it once. They’ll need the running game to be more solid if they face a team that can shut down their passing offense
Recent Game: W 16-7 at Hartford
Record: 5-1
Previous Rank: 2
Next Game: vs Oakland Wizards

3. Oakland Wizards - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1215
What went right: Defense – Oakland’s defense just shut down Grand Haven and held them to just over 100 yds of total offense. With only 1 missed tackle, a bunch of TFLs (5) and a bevy of passes deflected (10), the Wizards’ defense didn’t allow Grand Haven to move down the field.
What went wrong: Receivers – On an extremely efficient passing day, Oakland’s passing stats would have been even better if their receivers didn’t drop 5 passes. Thankfully this game didn’t require everyone to be firing on all cylinders and those mistakes didn’t cost them.
Recent Game: W 27-3 vs Grand Haven
Record: 5-1
Previous Rank: 3
Next Game: at Great Plains Reapers

4. Dallas Red Raiders - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1217
What went right: Run Defense – the Raiders’ defense got into the backfield multiple times and tackled the Beardogs’ running backs for a loss of yards which short circuited many drives down the field.
What went wrong: Kicker – In actuality, this game was much closer than it should have been. The kicker missed 2 FGs (one from 27.5 yds out) and an extra point. If he had converted those points, this game wouldn’t have been such a nail-biter.
Recent Game: W 19-17 vs Bel Air
Record: 4-2
Previous Rank: 7
Next Game: vs Scottsdale Sun Demons

5. Hartford Hellhounds - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1216
What went right: Linebacking Corp – The linebacking corp was instrumental in slowing down the Reapers’ run offense. Accounting for the majority of the team’s tackles and tackles for a loss, this game could have gotten out of hand if the linebacking corp didn’t step up like it did.
What went wrong: Turnovers – With 2 lost fumbles and an interception, the Hellhounds gave Great Plains extra possessions that they couldn’t afford to give. In a game that came down to who made more plays, the offensive turnovers really harmed the Hellhounds.
Recent Game: L 7-16 vs Great Plains
Record: 4-2
Previous Rank: 4
Next Game: at New Brunswick n00bs

6. Las Vegas Stunners - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1219
What went right: Receivers – With no dropped passes, the Stunners’ receivers did all they could to make all the passes count. Gaining 75% of their yardage through the air, it was essential that the receivers were able to haul in as many passes as possible.
What went wrong: INTs – Unfortunately, the Stunners’ QB was a bit loose with the ball, which led to a bevy of INTs (4 to be exact). Struggling to get yardage, Las Vegas could not afford to turn over the ball even once. With 4 INTs, it made this game nearly impossible to win.
Recent Game: L 7-21 vs Waco
Record: 4-2
Previous Rank: 6
Next Game: at Chicago Clams

7. Bel Air Beardogs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1224
What went right: Big Play Ability – When their plays connected, the Beardogs’ had some pretty big plays like a 39 yd TD pass. They were also able to capitalize on the one turnover that they forced.
What went wrong: Run offense – Bel Air’s running backs got stuffed 10 times and were held to a relatively low 2.2 yds/carry, while getting forced into a turnover. In a rough and tumble game, they could not afford to make those mistakes.
Recent Game: L 17-19 vs Dallas
Record: 4-2
Previous Rank: 5
Next Game: at Portland Hitmen

8. New Brunswick n00bs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1210
What went right: Run Offense – Once again, they returned to their bread and butter of running the ball and were successful. Aided by the 22 pancakes by the O-line, the backs were able to accrue over 300 yards of running on an average of 5.3 yds/carry.
What went wrong: Receivers – With the minimal amount of passes made, the three drops could have been costly if they needed to depend on the passing game. Fortunately for them, they didn’t need to worry about the passing game and could merrily run their way to victory.
Recent Game: W 27-0 at RGB
Record: 4-2
Previous Rank: 9
Next Game: vs Hartford Hellhounds

9. Scottsdale Sun Demons - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1225
What went right: Run Offense – Churning out a solid 5 yds/carry, the running game was able to take advantage of the mistakes that Spicewood committed and were able to pound the ball in for touchdowns, which was important for this close game.
What went wrong: Missed Tackles – If they face a run-based team, the Sun Demons could be in trouble. With 6 missed tackles, they were lucky that they weren’t burned more by a decent Spicewood running game.
Recent Game: W 16-13 vs Spicewood
Record: 3-3
Previous Rank: 10
Next Game: at Dallas Red Raiders

10. Spicewood Longhorns - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1214
What went right: Pass Coverage – With no missed tackles and 8 passes deflected, the Longhorns forced Scottsdale into a dismal passing game.
What went wrong: Turnovers – It is almost impossible to win when you turn over the ball 5 times. The fact that this game was so close is a testament to a solid defensive and offensive effort, but in the end the turnovers were too much to overcome.
Recent Game: L 13-16 at Scottsdale
Record: 3-3
Previous Rank: 8
Next Game: vs RGB Berzerk

11. Portland Hitmen - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1211
What went right: Offensive Line – With 24 pancakes, the O-line opened up lanes for the run game and with no hurries or sacks, the Hitmen’s QBs were able to make their throws without pressure.
What went wrong: Receivers – with only 15 catchable passes, 4 dropped passes could be a problem in the future. If they can fix that problem, the Hitmen could be a tough team to face as we get close to the second half of the seasons
Recent Game: W 27-0 at Ambridge
Record: 2-4
Previous Rank: 11
Next Game: vs Bel Air Beardogs

12. Miami Cyclones - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1955
What went right: Offensive Line – With 34 pancakes, the offensive line won the battle in the trenches and helped the Cyclones get all the yards they needed to pull out the win.
What went wrong: Punting? – Not much went wrong for them, but the punting average was pretty low, which game Chicago decent field position. If the Cyclones get into field position battles, they could be hurt by their punter.
Recent Game: W 20-12 vs Chicago
Record: 2-4
Previous Rank: 12
Next Game: at Grand Haven Mists

13. RGB Berzerk - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1223
What went right: Pass Offense – With a decent pass completion of over 50%, RGB was able to gain a decent chunk of yardage against the n00bs’ secondary. If they strung some more passes and plays together, they could have done some damage.
What went wrong: Run Defense – Up against a tough run offense, RGB was unable to slow down any of the backs that New Brunswick threw at them.
Recent Game: L 0-27 vs New Brunswick
Record: 1-5
Previous Rank: 13
Next Game: at Spicewood Longhorns

14. Chicago Clams - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1218
What went right: Linebacking Corp – The Clams’ linebacking corp did a decent job plugging up the running lanes and putting some pressure on the QB. They held Miami to a decently low yards per carry, but just weren’t able to make the big plays when they needed to.
What went wrong: 3rd down conversions – Held to 7 three and outs, it was either feast or famine for the Clams’ offense. They needed to make more clutch plays in order to get down the field and score more, but they just couldn’t muster the offense when they needed it most.
Recent Game: L 12-20 at Miami
Record: 1-5
Previous Rank: 14
Next Game: vs Las Vegas Stunners

15. Grand Haven Mist - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1222
What went right: Kick Return – With over 30 yds/return, the kick return game gave Grand Haven’s offense decent field position. Unfortunately they couldn’t convert these opportunities enough during this game, but it could be a weapon in upcoming games.
What went wrong: O-line – In a game where there weren’t any glaring weaknesses, their O-line let Oakland’s defense into the backfield too many times. This resulted in 5 TFLs and 3 QB hurries.
Recent Game: L 3-27 at Oakland
Record: 0-6
Previous Rank: 15
Next Game: vs Miami Cyclones

16. Ambridge Brigade - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1221
What went right: Kick Return – With over 30 yds/return, the kick return game gave Ambridge’s offense decent field position.
What went wrong: Kicker? – In a game where they did a decent job moving the ball down the field, Ambridge couldn’t afford to lose out on any points. In the one kick he had, the kicker was unable to convert.
Recent Game: L 0-27 vs Portland
Record: 0-6
Previous Rank: 16
Next Game: at Waco Davidians

Offensive Player of the Week:
HB Nuke Laluche Scottsdale (this pick was based upon importance to the team’s success) – 23 rushes, 141.5 yds (6.2 yds/carry), 2 TDs

Defensive Player of the Week:
CB Octavius Glove Denver – 14 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 INT (returned for 11 yds), 4 PDs and 0 missed tackles

Special Teams Player of the Week:
CB Marty Motallico Waco – 1 KR for 41 yds, 5 PRs for 185.5 yds with a 97 yard PR for a TD.

Game of the Week:
#2 Great Plains vs #3 Oakland

With the only two one-loss teams in the conference facing off, this game could very well determine who gets the second seed in the play-offs.
Prediction: This will be a hard-fought game and is pretty much a toss-up. I’ll give the edge to the newly named Great Plains Reapers because I don’t know if Oakland can slow down the pass offense that the Reapers displayed.
Predicted score: 21-17 Reapers

Current “Game of the Week” Record: 2-6

We fear Dallas, mostly because they are close enough to us to send scouts to our Holy Practice Field and steal our plays.
