Executive Summary for those with short attention spans: Frogs>Hookers
Dateline: The Pond, Attendance 38,720
As fans filed into the ambitiously expanded stadium in downtown Surabaya, they seemed somewhat anxious to find out how their beloved Frogs would stand up to the improved competition in their new league. Their concerns soon turned to jubilation as the Dart Frogs extended their regular season winning streak to 15 games with a convincing 49-12 win over the visiting Hookers from Ho Chi Minh. The Hookers power run game led by bruiser Brock Flannigan fell short today in the face of the vaunted Dart Frog passing attack, as Jake Delhomme and Lil Bob combined for 350 yards and three touchdowns via the air.
“That back of theirs was a beast,” said Rush Sack, the starting Defensive Tackle for Surabaya. “If we let him get up a head of steam, there was no stopping him, so we had to really stack the box and get into his running lanes. You definitely cannot arm tackle that boy.” While Rush Sack was one of twelve Dart Frogs with a missed tackle, he also brought Flannigan down nine times including two rare tackles for loss against the power back. “In the offseason, I’ve been practicing tackling horses at Range (Lockdown)’s ranch. Turns out that was pretty good preparation for today’s game.” Rush Sack only started playing football 5 years ago. Prior to that he was a bagger at a supermarket in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he obtained his moniker. Rush held the world record for grocery sacking and carryout, bagging over 800 pounds of produce and canned goods and loading them into a car trunk within 47 seconds. After that international competition, Rush played several games with the local football franchise before his propensity for piling up offensive linemen earned him a full time nod in GLB.
Ho Chi Minh was the second formidable opponent Surabaya has dispatched early in this season, as the Dart Frogs opened on the road and managed a surprising 30-6 victory over the Bandar Seri Begawan Marauders. The Dart Frogs should feel at home in a wet environment on the road as they take on the Water Dragons in Phuket before returning to meet the Men from Seoul.
