Warrior General Games

There are a number of different league ranking methods out there, and I'll start off by stating that I took this posting layout from one of the more common ones... in fact, the one Rot has used in the past. However, this is a completely homegrown spreadsheet and power ranking calculation.

What I did was extract the data straight from the league stat center ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/team_stats.pl?league_id=131&conference_id=0 ) into a spreadsheet and used it to compile each team's yardage and point totals, both for and against. On offense, I calculated the rankings based on who had the best yardage and scoring for each separate category (passing and rushing), as well as the combination of the two, which is depicted in the overall rating. For defense, it was just the opposite; using the least amount of yards and points given up to determine the better ranking.

For the overall ranking, it is the average of all of the different sub-category offensive and defensive rankings (rushing yards for, rushing yards against, rushing TDs for... etc), with an added weighting to the difference between each team's yardage/points for and against (this is used for purposes of tie-breakers, when dealing with averages)... because it is, after all, more impressive to win convincingly by racking up a lot of points/yards and hold your opponents to very few points/yards; as opposed to gaining a lot of points/yards, but giving up a lot of points/yards as well.

Keep in mind these power rankings are based off of one league game played, thus far. They will shift dramatically and reflect a more accurate assessment as each team begins to play common opponents. In other words, the Serbia Tigers look like a true powerhouse right now, but they've only played Kharkiv Lo Pans; expect them to come back to Earth when they face the likes of the Detroit Muscle and Kiev RoughRiders in the upcoming weeks.

Yeah, I've got it down to five "copy and paste"s to get it from the league stat center to the forum:

1) Copy the "current" rankings and paste to the "previous" slot
2) Copy the team Passing Stats and paste to the appropriate tab
3) Copy the team Rushing Stats and paste to the appropriate tab
4) Copy the "current" rankings and paste off to the side to keep historical tracking
5) Copy the pre-formated ranking column and dump it into the league forum


Not sure how long the other one takes, Rot, but you're more than welcome to see mine for comparisons, if you'd like. Or heck, if you wanna do us a favor and post the other version, maybe we could run a side-by-side comparison of the same information to see which one is more favorable to the owners and GMs.


... and what are you doing back in the EEA#3 forum anyway? Surely the EEAA#2 even-leveled competition makes their smack talk more interesting than our babble.

Strength of Record = (Total number of wins of opponents you have defeated) - (Total number of losses of opponents that have beaten you)
Quality of Play = (Actual total point differential) - (Predicted total point differential)

The only smack talk all year has been the cypriot freedom guys bitching about how they shouldn't have gotten promoted. I offered that them gloriously 95%-wrscreening their way to the semi-finals might not have been a great long-term plan. minor hilarity ensured. eeaa2 forums are kinda boring :/

Agreed, and excellently put. I'll have to seek that thread out; I could use a good laugh. You think that a mid-level club who tried trickery to win the title should understand the rammifications of their exploits. I think the gameplanning was perfect for what they needed to do to accomplish victory, but they've gotta understand the consequences for getting that far in the playoffs and falling just short.

Poor WhatsaMatta U got the hook too... so now they'll be mired in mediocrity, and with no hardware to show for it. I know they'd love to trade spots with us, if they could; just to get one last good run with the Lions and Triforce for the legit call-up.

And yeah, if you want to send it to me, that'd be good. Maybe I'll steal the logic and incorporate it into the O - P - R to make a more thorough power ranking.

PM me your email address at your leisure then. Also, swimsuit/evening-wear pictures of all of your agents would be nice.

The only ones I've got are from Balls Models... and I keep those for myself.
