I posted picks and predictions in SE Asia #4 last season, they were pretty well received so I thought i'd do it again this season if nobody objects, no offence intended just my ill-informed opinion so don't take anything seriously/to heart.

Vietnam Kongs 78 - 7 Yokohama Samurai Warriors

Yokohama have struggled pre-season, and their team looks considerably weaker than the majority of opposition they will face. An under-levelled defense could really be their downfall this season. I think the Kongs are definitely ones to watch out for in Alpha this season, good solid pre-season and a very talented team on paper, definite playoff team, we'll see what happens this season if they are to make a run at the title. Today's game, I think it's safe to say Yokohama will struggle to get anything going on offense with Vietnam's defense making the big plays and stifling them. Kongs take this one comfortably.

Edenia Crimson Prophets 13 - 45 Ottawa Beavers

Edenia may find themselves struggling this season. The better teams in the conference have high powered offenses, and I think their defense will just be too weak for them to cope with the elite teams. Today they play Ottawa, a very solid team with great chemistry that know how to get it done. I can't see anything other than a Beaver victory in this game.

Cagayan Rattlers 14 - 37 Skaro Daleks

Many CPU teams means that Skaro should have no trouble in putting the Rattlers away today. Unless they get their roster sorted and positions filled, it will be a long season for them. Having a CPU at the QB position is criminal at this level. The Daleks have a solid team with decent chemistry, and will come out with the victory.

Taiwan Dragons 47 - 24 Singapore Canes

All the smart money is going on the Dragons for this one. A team full of level 40's should indicate they will roll over Singapore today, but they haven't really dominated in pre-season like they probably wanted to. As the season progresses, I see them being one of the top teams in Alpha. Singapore have a decent team, one that will probably be on the cusp of the playoffs come end of the season, but I think beating Taiwan is just a step too far for them right now. Dragons take it.

Chiang Mai Funny Talkers 0 - 234 Arrowhead Fanatics

You'll find that gutted teams with level 1's will not get my attention or time to write anything out. Arrowhead win

Tibetan Black Dragons 44 - 37 PCE Pissed Drunk PubCrawlers

Tough game to call right here, both teams aren't amongst the elite teams in either conference, the Black Dragons lack depth, far too many CPU players on their roster to really be competitive this season, whereas PCE don't really have the offensive weapons to be a team challenging for playoff spots either. If the Black Dragons get the ball to the receivers, it could be a long day for the PCE secondary, but i'm not sure how much the CPU players will affect their team. I'll say a close Tibetan win.

Jakarta Jesuits 26 - 43 Guam Carabao

It seems on paper, Guam should take this pretty easily. High powered team, a bunch of level 40's and a very scary looking defense. I think their defense will be the key to getting the victory today, by shutting down the passing attack of Jakarta. Jakarta have a solid team though and I would look out for them this season, could be a dark horse, but I think Carabao get the victory here today

Samarinda Saints 34 - 37 Kuala Lumpur Pit Vipers

Have a sneaky feeling this will be a good one. The Pit Vipers are all about the pass, if you can't contain their receivers, you're in for a long day that's for sure. Do the Saints have the ability to do that? The level of their secondary indicates to me it could be a problem for them today. Pit Vipers haven't improved this off-season, and may prove to be a tricky season for them at this higher level, but I say Kuala Lumpur takes a close victory here today.

Shanghai Assassins 21 - 31 Johor Bahru Beach Bums

Johor have been very impressive pre-season, and their very impressive offense is looking good. I'm not sure Shanghai have the defense to cope with them. One thing working in Shanghai's favour is the Beach Bum's horrible chemistry, which may prove to be the deciding factor in close games this season. Despite this, I think that Johor will get the victory today, but Shanghai keep it pretty close.

Singapore Scorpions 20 - 41 Lumpinee Stadium Maine-iacs

You may find that I tend to predict my team to win every game, because we are the greatest, clearly. Onto today's game, Lumpinee have added some good players in the off-season, whereas Singapore have kept their chemistry in check and have a solid team. I think where the game will be won is where the Maine-iacs take advantage of the Scorpions slightly weaker secondary unit. We take it by a couple of scores.

Haiphong Red Dragons 34 - 28 Phuket "Happy Endings"

Two solid teams square off right here. Reviewing both teams, it could be said that Phuket's QB isn't good enough to play at this level? When most teams are packing a level 35+ QB, Phuket have a level 26 QB which could prove to be a problem (as does not having a punter). The Red Dragons are coming in on an impressive 20-game winning streak, and I think they extend that to 21. Haiphong are one of those teams that doesn't have the level 40 players, but will be a very tough game for any team they come across due to good gameplanning. Dragons take it.

Surayaba Heroes 31 - 28 Holiday in Cambodia

A clash of definite playoff teams here, both have a nice looking roster with high levels filling the majority of positions. Surayaba have had a solid pre-season and I think today's game will be won and lost by how good Surayaba's secondary can cope with Cambodia's passing attack. They keep them in check, I think Surayaba will get the victory, if not it could be a difficult for them. I'm struggling to pick a victor here. I'll say Surayaba wins a close one.

Beijing Black Dragons 21 - 28 Laos Warmachine

Laos have one of the more impressive roster in the conference, and i'd be confident in saying they should find themselves one of the top spots in Zeta come end of the season. Today's game will be a tough one though against Beijing who are certainly no pushover. Gameplanning is key today for them to beat Laos, who despite not having the best pre-season will surely come out firing. Their balanced attack has proved to be successful for them, and this game is a very tough one to predict. I think that Laos take this one

Jambi JUICE 37 - 17 Easter Island Terror

This game will be a good one, but I give the edge to the Juice today. Juice have been successful with both rushing and passing, and I think the Terror will find themselves just overmatched in some positions in this game. Easter Island will keep it close, but I feel come the second half, the Juice will pull away by a couple of scores and coast. Juice take it.

Singapore Buddhist 48 - 21 Blue City Bruisers

I think the Buddhists will find the Bruisers pretty easy to handle today. Blue City have done well pre-season, but playing Singapore is a severe step up in the standard of opposition. I think the Bruisers will find it difficult to cope with Singapore's WR, and the passing game will be the biggest factor here. Singapore take it.

Bangkok Bangers 31 - 38 Bangkok Dragons

A replay of last season SE Asia #4 final game, and this promises to be another good one. Both teams have improved their roster in the off season, but I feel the winner comes down to the one with the best gameplan. The Dragons have some monsters on the defensive line, if they can get the pressure they need and disrupt the Bangers passing attack, it could be their game for the taking, but this is another game i'm finding it hard to pick a winner. I'll say the Dragons exact revenge for last season and get their season off to a winning start

I used to do the league projector myself... don't have time to do it this season. If anyone would like to run the projector in addition to this hit me up with a PM with your email and I'll send you the file, and answer any questions you have about it.

Nice write up and I know this sounds a bit bratty, but Skaro is gongto beat Cagayan by more than that. I'm guessing this one will be one of the 100+ wins that we see sometimes in GLB.

I will do the league projector, but If we beat the Bangkok Dragons, then one of them has to, haha

considering they never got around to the pro bowl picks in A they probably won't update the projector this season either

Yea once Bruins said he wouldn't do it, I gave it a try but it was right after promotion/relegation. It was already hard to search through the player rankings for specific positions but that made it even harder. I got all the way through offense but quit once I started DT's and DE's.

Glad to see that Samarinda isn't a huge underdog and is picked to be potential upset.

Great write up.

As Beijing Black Dragons' GM/OC since season four, I'd like to wish everyone a fun and successful season and our week one opponent, the highly talented Laos War Machine all the best. Beijing enters season seven as a 54 overall team, Laos a 51 but as everybody here should know by now, this league is highly competitive and nearly any team can be any other team on any given game day. Beijing plans on improving from our 13-3 season and aims to take it all. Have fun guys.

+1

Good luck all, no doubt the most deserving teams will find a way to the podium.
