I'm about to boost my OT to lvl 39. He has 68/68/68 in Str/Blk/Agi.

I currently don't have anything in the Protector SA. With the SP I get from boosting, I could raise Protector to 4 (+1 with custom equipment) or I could put those SP into agility.

I feel like the gains from adding 3-4 to agility would be minimal compared to the gains I get from adding 4 to Protector. I just don't like that Protector makes my guy really one-dimensional.

So do you think adding 4 to protector would be more valuable than adding 3-4 to agility, strength, or blocking? With VA points to spend, I'm starting to think so.

Yes it would be more valuable, but it would lock you in as Left Offensive Tackle. ( Protector works great IMO- it gives those high agility DE's the shits )

I agree, str/blk/agi are good, and if you want the versatility to keep playing both sides, you might be interested in laying off the protector. There are a lot of other things that are useful to an ot though, like pass block, run block, get low, possibly shock block given the state of the DEs these days, confidence, and vision (still dubious, but rumored to be useful). If you still have room to spend on those other things, you might as well fill them before going to protector.

Well pass block is high even w/o my custom equipment. I'm not sure I'll see huge returns for the points I'd spend in it. I've never really liked investing in the SAs but at this point, at 68/68/68, and with the veteran abilities out, I wonder if adding 4 points to agility or strength will help much. Maybe I'll go with a few run blocking SAs just to balance out my build.

I'd definately build the Protector to 4. It doesn't lock you into anything. It makes you less one-dimensional. If you have the STR to play the right side now, then building the Protector just means you can play either side. I don't know how your EQ is distributed, but with 68 AGL/STR/BLK, you would be a typical with about 50 SPD and the Protector at 6 or above. I think it will make an OC more apt to use you in either spot. You can do a 3 man rotation with the 3rd guy being the 2nd ROT and 2nd LOT. All 3 guys will get about the same amount of plays with the energy/subs set right, but somebody has to be able to play both sides.

If you're going to play LT 50+% of the snaps, Protector is priceless.

You're locked in either way imo. Protector is a nice SA and you'd be foolish not to put points in it eventually if you're playing LT. So pick a side and build a LT or RT. Your choice.

My teams have two LTs with protector at 9 and 10. Neither has allowed a sack against similar/better competition.

I agree with this post. Honestly, 69 strength would be enough for run blocking, and if you're on a balanced team, then they'll prefer that you have protector.

I just bought an advanced equipment that was +2 speed +1 Protector. Good move? I figured protector was pretty rare and anything added on was gravy (a little extra speed never hurts at LOT anyway).

Uhh Yeah. Most OTs would kill for a piece like that

yeah it's great. You get the protector sa and the +2 SPD, plus as you upgrade it you can put the pts in BLK or AGL.
