That pre-season seemed long and short at the same time. Quite a few new faces out there this season. No big surprises during pre-seasons, but a few close games, a few probable upsets (but wasn't really looking too hard), and a couple of blowouts (where there probably shouldn't have been). Well all the former BBBs get to test their teams against seasoned, but not necessarily better, vets of the Alpha. So, on to the predictions:

Doom vs Sooners: Doom has improved quite a bit since last year, but sooners have been around for a while as well. Stats say that Sooners should be able to take out doom, and because of the convincing wins during the pre-season, I have to go with the stats this time. Sorry Doom, betting against you again Sooners win.

Pirates vs Achei. Pirates had a blowout against Achei in the pre-season, nothing has changed much, pirates should blow them out again. Pirates win.

Cards vs Manchester. Manchester is in rebuild mode, Cards are not. Cards win.

Ravens vs Mavericks. last season this might have been harder to predict, this year with the raven team stripped of all the lucky CPU guys it is not. Mavericks win.

Trawlers vs Vassassins. The trawlers at least got to have a little fun during pre-season, but now the reality of a rebuilding team comes true, but they should win a game or two this regular season. Vsssassins win.

Oslo vs Naples. As mentioned in the preview, Oslo is one of the stronger teams in Alpha. Naples seems to have the right stuff, but their weakness in defense secondary is holding them back. Oslo wins.

Dallas vs Spartans. This could be a close game. Both teams are farily well matched. The Sparts have a big-gun kicker, and a couple other defense all-stars. But their offense is a little weak, and you can't win if you don't score. So Dallas wins although their QB is battered from sacks.

Huskies vs Nomads. The Huskies are heavily outleved and so at a significant disadvantage. The huskies can be lucky though. Nomads win.

B-dogs vs Cheetahs. Well, it is starting to look like the folks left on the b-dogs may stick around for at least a while longer, but significant holes are being plugged by CPU guys. The cheetahs have a few holes themselves though. Soooo, and everytime I say they will win they won't...B-dogs win on better defense.

Bastards vs Bolderslev. Last season Bolderev won two scrims against the bastards. Boldersev has probably an average of an 8 level advantage over the bastards as well. Boldersev wins.

Bassassin vs Carlin. Bassassins should not have too hard a time with Carlin. Bassassins win.

Dragons vs Sassassins. (way too many teams with assassins as their mascots in this league) An appropriate name for the game would be "the which team hired more/higher level players then they can support in the long run bowl"! Anyway the stadium challenged teams are fairly evenly matched, but the Dragons appear to have a slightly better defense. Dragons win.

Red lights vs Carnage. Fairly matched in stats, but that big-arse HB of carnage is probably going to run rough-shod through the league this year. Carnage wins.

Shamrocks vs Knights. Two more teams trying to race each other toward bankruptcy, although at a slightly slower pace. Knights seem to have a slight advantage generally, and slightly in chemistry. Knights win.

Stallions vs Rebels. Rebels also have a monster HB that must have gotten on the A league bus instead of the AA or AAA bus and ended up here. Stallions also reeling right now from huge chem hits. Rebels win.

Tofu vs Jackalopes. Both teams seem to be torn between staying loyal to the folks that got them here and bringing on new talent to try and win right away, but it seems like it is more of a conflict in the jacks, for example their WR roster goes something like this - 30, 29, 24, 23, 22, 14, 3 (although those two low guys are NOT on the depth chart, at least at the moment). Level advantage favors the jacks. Jackalopes win.

Game of the week Disclaimer: Almost everytime I named one last season it turned into a blow out.

Game of the week: Dallas vs Spartans

Happy and Prosperous New Year everyone! And good luck this season, well, unless you are playing me!

See, B-dogs did it to me again! Update...B-dogs now CPU, so the other players will probably leave shortly. Not sure if they want to stay here, but it could be a recruiting opportunity to WEA4!
