Did Malta throw this game?

Malta, a running team, seemed to be GIVING away the ball and field position early in this game. Let's look at the evidence.

First drive, 4th and 6.5 to go. Malta runs a pitch play to their FB. I'll grant that the FB has a 65 speed. But you aren't going to get 6.5 yards more than 20% of the time, maybe, on that play. No coach in his right mind is going to try that play on 4th and 6. I don't mind the going for it, but pick a play that's going to succeed at LEAST half the time.

2nd drive, they start on their own 7. They are backed deep into their own territory, and they pass 3 times... they are a run first team that is passing backed deep in their own zone against a top sacking team... just begging for a safety basically. Add to that the fact that their worst OT is on the left against the #2 sack guy in the league in the regular season... who does that? Danny Guy's stats are open, he's inactive, and he has no reason to be in their against an excellent pass rusher.

3rd drive... they put a center in at Right Tackle and pass... lo and behold, a sack. Didn't see that coming. Again, this team ran the ball 621 times and threw 484 during the regular season... suddenly they are passing and using their worst blockers against arguably the best pass rushing tandem in the league.

Next drive they score a FG, going for it again on 4th, this time with short yardage and they make it. Of course, they keep throwing, this time with the same set up and into triple coverage... but they get lucky (or is that unlucky) and aren't sacked or intercepted on this play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=286211&pbp_id=12289043

I'm not even going to go into their very unusual defensive changes. They got to where they were by playing a certain way, and in this game we saw very little clue of them playing the game that got them to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

So, I leave it up to you, my faithful viewer, to judge... watch some of Malta's previous games. Look at the stats. Then watch the Dresden/Malta game and judge for yourselves if they threw the game.

No reason to do so, if anything they would've just thrown the conference championship game, at least you can say you got there, so stop making horribly wrong inferences to make Dresden look bad. Don't know what you have against us, but you're sure as hell not doing yourself any favors.

Malta happens to have two of the top three wide receivers in the conference (Flying Live and Terrel Live).

They arguably have the second best QB duo in the conference.

They had the third most passing yards AND passing touchdowns in the regular season.

They had the second highest completion percentage and yards per completion. And they were sacked the fourth least.

It seems to me their taking to the air was reasonable and not out of the ordinary, especially given that we have the top rushing defense and had held them to a mere 50.5 rushing yards in the regular season. And that fullback leads their team in yards per carry.

See my post in the other thread. I had not read this prior to typing it or I would have had more to say. All I have to say about this is wow. I have no idea why they gameplanned as they did because I was not involved in the forum from the time the sims ended that decided it was a Malta/Dresedn matchup. What I will do is post a link of this thread in their forum now so they can respond themselves if they wish to. Again, no wrong doing but good execution on our part.

I am a GM on Malta and valakar isn't involved with tactics or game plans. He is a finance guy. Why would we throw the game? We wanted a damn championship!!

That's been established. He still has access to what the team is doing, and can utilize that information as a GM on Dresden. Please don't post an argument that has nothing to do with the situation. It just makes valakar look like he is trying to get others to help him argue his case, which has no moral or ethical grounds.

I am not sure what you feel you are trying to prove? You have made your point of view clear to everyone. I have made my point of view clear to everyone. We disagree on the perception of this game (Malta/Dresden) and I know what I did and will not backdown from that point of view. I feel I need to bring in people to vouch for my character? However, you will no matter what spin it in your favor. I can sleep at night because I did nothing wrong.

Just so you know i can say that it wasn't them who influenced the game plan...they wheren't in our forums during the time before the game...when i heard we where going with the running game i didn't understand but i am just a player....dresden has been ran on a bit more than passed on from my understanding which is why that was chosen...plus ya'll would never expect it comming from us...so thats the reason for the running game plan

Well, you are saying that MALTA, the team I GM for, threw the game. So I came on here to let you know that you are incorrect on your assumption and sound retarded. Why the hell would we lose a game on purpose?? It serves no advantage to us.

I guess Buer and valakar demanded on the team forum that players from the team post about this... since most of you have been silent all year and are, all of the sudden, posting. I find it amusing that there is no grounds to argue, but everyone from Dresden is arguing, and most literally have no clue of what's going on. Hilarious.

Ill tell you what... I am a GM/DC for the Malta Knights, and i threw the game! I talked back and forth with the OC and DC from Dresden, and we put together the perfect strategy for Dresden to win! I got paid under the table by Dresden, so it was worth it for me! And the plan was for valakar and pratt to get all the blame being a part of both teams! So it all looks like it worked to perfection! Damn im good!
