This year's conference final in Elephant features 2 teams both promoted from A#1 this season. They have played each other 3 times, including round 2 of last years A#1 play-offs, and all 3 times have seen RMoG as the victor. The game earlier this season was incredibly close tho, and we should be in for a treat, as both teams are capable of playing at a very high level. The odds are 50/50 at the bookmakers, and no team can afford to relax a single second, as any mistake will be swiftly punished by the opposing team. TO's and penalties will play a big part too, and could be the decisive factor. Winner takes the conference title and get to play in the league championship, but both teams seem sure of promotion due to league restructuring. Both teams have had impressive seasons, here is a quick run down:

Richmond Raiders
Richmond started out the season not being given much chance to make the play-offs, but a strong recruiting spree with help from contacts in Canada, they assembled a championship caliber team in a matter of weeks. They finished the season in #1 spot with a 15-1 record, their only defeat coming against today's opponent from RMoG in week 13. The only teams apart from RMoG to even come close to defeating Richmond is EEORG, Dakar and Cairo Crocs, so there is no question that hey deserve this spot in the conference final.

Road to the Final

Cairo Crocodiles W 33-24

Hard fought game against a Cairo team making one last effort to save the season. Richmond controlled the game, and pulled of in the end, as so many times this season.

Cairo Cannibals W 49-21

With great use of a number of WR screen plays, Richmond defeated their 2nd Cairo team within a week without too much trouble. Game was closer than the result reflects, but there was never any doubt as to who would win after the 1st quarter. Solid performance.

Real Men of Genius
Perhaps the most impressive team this year, they have gone from underdog to dark horse, and from dark horse to championship favorite during this season. They started of with a loss against BoB, but then got things on track and never looked back. A brief stumble against EEORG is their only other loss so far, but that was enough of a beating for 1 season right there. They quickly picked themselves up again tho, and continued to steam roll their way through the opponents. They have beat Richmond in their 3 previous meetings, and the fans are hoping that they can make it 4-0 and take their 2nd conference championship in 2 years. As the only team to beat Richmond this year, they have the psychological advantage, and will want to get control of the game from the start.

Road to the Final

Lake M'Zumba Cannibals W 71-10

Lake M is this leagues Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. And whíchever one of them sux, they where him today. Result speaks for itself, and it didnt look like a game between teams in the same league. Made a few teams worried i bet.

Dakar Dragons W 52-7

Another impressive performance by RMoG. Dakar is a quality team, but never got a chance to show that as the Real Men shook of an early pick 6, and just kept going. When They hit that extra gear, few can keep up.

All in all, i think it is safe to say that we have the 2 correct teams in this final for Elephant. They have both distanced the rest of the competition all season, and topped it of with huge play-off wins to seal the deal.

GL to both teams

I'm rooting for Richmond since they beat us and I would like another shot at RMOG next season, so hopefully they get wrecked and don't move up lol.

Excellent write up.

My two cents is RMoG and while it could be close, I don't know that it will be.

Great season by both teams. Congrats to both squads.

If both teams move up, you will have a tremendously difficult time of repeating what DD and Ghana did this year and that is compile a 30-2 regular season record and meet in the conference final to decide who represents Elephant.

Richmond will definitely need more than the screen pass to knock out RMOG- I think they will put up a good fight but RMOG will take it away.

lol, I think Richmond and their levels will win out..

But we will put up a good fight...

Bottom line is RMoG is a great team who has meticulously developed (slow built) their team from the ground up with some very intelligent players and agents. Had I been in the position to do something similar I definitely would have.

Although I took some shit for having to recruit higher level players to compete in a kick ass league (as much as I hated to do it, the majority of the team agreed we had to) I don't hold it against anyone (everyone has their opinion). I'm just trying to have some fun and trying to win like every other one of you nuts. I think all the teams in these playoffs have been awesome.

The last game we had with RMoG was superb(although we lost)and I hope to be able to give them a game again and maybe even come out with a win... Good Luck to RMoG and to those playing it out in Lion.

i honestly don't know how you recruited so many high level 40 players. Its ridiculous. If we can nail one level 40 player in an offseason in the high level player feeding-frenzy that is GLB, its an absolute miracle. Its impossible to recruit high level players, especially in an Africa AA league. I dont know how you got 5-10 level 35-40 players like you did, but my hat goes off to you. That (to me) is much more difficult than winning a championship.

They took a Pro team and moved them all here thats not hard. They may have signed a few outside of that pro team but hell if i saw a roster full of 40 players playing in a league with 20s it wouldnt he hard to think damn thats an easy season.

Icky had a player/players on the same team as all these guys, and the team shut down business. A big part then all agreed to join Richmond, since they wanted to keep together and Richmond had just gotten promoted to a non-cap league

i dont understand why you are so bitter. teams have the right to sign new players and form a better organization. haters will always be haters. when you learn to win maybe you'll have a change of attitude.

One of the big parts about this game is the networking that goes on. The core of most successful teams are groups of people that know each other and are willing to work together. There is a division of duties to take care of so it is not one person working on all of it. In addition, teams like this have more of a "team first" attitude. You don't have to deal with idiot agents demanding their level 25 whatever be the starter on a team of level 30's and/or wanting a bazillion bucks that they could possibly never spend.

When you get a good group of people together like that, then the natural inclination is to stick together. Richmond's high level players were not numerous enough to field a competitive team in the pros. Their levels help them here and they present a different set of issues for any other team competing here, but they can be beat. We came close on our second try and may have well pulled it off except we fumbled the ball 3 times. They still have to game plan around what they have and also to exploit another teams weaknesses along with trying to account for their own.

RMoG beat them bad and RMoG is from A league last year. I don't see anyone screaming about their LB corps, which is one of the reasons their defense is so brutal. Their DE's are among the best in the league to add icing to the cake and make any OC cringe, but it is their higher level LB corps that makes it all go from a defensive stand point of view.

My primary focus is in the 2 AA leagues. This one is by far more competitive than the other one I am involved in. The A teams that came up in SA were good, but the old AA teams that were among the good ones left basically kicked their butts this season. None of them would stand a chance to not only Richmond and RMoG, but I think Dakar and Cairo Cannibals would also beat them easily.

If you don't like how hot the competition is in this league, then by all means ask for a transfer to someplace easy where you can beat 3/4's of the league without trying. If you want to stick around and have a great opponent more often than not where you got to game plan your ass off, then this league has a great potential next season for that to happen despite some of the teams that have folded. Of course if you like playing video games on godmode, then I have to question the point of the exercise in the first place..

Hey I learned to win with the guys who got me here i didnt feel like i needed to kick them off to be competitive. So when you guys learn to win without signing a Pro team thats 10 levels above everyone else, come talk to me. Happy Holidays.
