Alright - before I get started, I want to give full credit to janonymous, the owner of the Bel-Air Beardogs, who's original idea it was to do an All Conference team. Now that a quarter of the season is in the books and we have some stats to go by, I thought I'd update his work for the first quarter. Before I get started, I will confess that I am a GM of the Waco Davidians (It seems on all these content posts people have to get their homer status out there, so I'm just following the trend).

Second Team Special Teams

The vast, vast majority of these were done based on stats - but in some cases I was forced to look at other key attributes such as name originality, profile picture, and hair color.

Wow, very nice. Yeah, it's easier to admit to homerism, then people have no right to complain about what is written. If they don't agree, then they can make their own lists, haha.

Yeah my decision for the last 2 CB spots was between L.Advised, Walker and Beasly. I almost went with Walker over Beasly purely to avoid the appearance of favoritism, but in the end two reasons placed Walker in third here.

The first was stats:

L. Advised Pass - 18 tackles, 9 passes defended, 2 int
Ken Beasly - 16 tackles, 16 passes defended, 1 int, 1 fumble forced
Cordell Walker - 10 tackles, 8 passes defended, 2 int

At the end of the day, the other guys had created the same number of turnovers but also made more tackles and defended more passes.

The second reason was schedule strength. The Davidians and the Hitmen have played the hardest schedules so far - both teams have played Denver, Hartford, and Oakland when they were undefeated.

Cordell is a great player though, and was well worthy of making the list.

Beard had some impressive stats, and I think he led the league in TDs

Greg Martin
^league leading rusher
Beard OG
^not so much

Of course now that he's had a run in with the tubby tank those stats are somewhat blemished by the 3 fumbles from his last game.....but still....cant deny the league leading rusher part =)

Beard OG
^ leads the conference in rushing TDs, 3rd in the league
Greg Martin
^ not even in the top 10

EDIT: Quote fixed

only 4 others have scored more rushing touchdowns than Martin. and 2 others have scored the same amount....by my reconing thats a 3 way tie for 5th as far as rushing touchdown production is concerened....so again

Greg Martin>Beard OG

dont get me wrong Beard is doin a hell of a job, but still the next closest HB has almost 100 yards less on almost 10 carries more than Martin.

*edit...that should read conference instead of league on the first post

Sounds like an excuse for not being in the top 10 to me. You - 4 TDs, Beard - 7 TDs

He gets it done when it matters most. Yards aren't the only thing that matters.

ehh....check the stats even with a 3 way battle for 5th thats the number 5 with a th next to it, the number that comes before 6, but after 4, the worst he could possibly be is 7th the number that comes before 8, but after 6. either way...STILL in the top 10.....so where is the excuse for not being in the top 10?? im not seeing one...as far as i can tell that is in the top 10

*edit and BTW Martin is EXACTLY #10 in the LEAGUE for TDs, while still 2nd in the LEAGUE for rushing yards

/shrug sorry your e-footballer didn't get mega props from rj who took a neutral approach. He's still second team so what are you complaining about? I always give your guy props when he has good games.

Lets just be honest though, its not like you have the most neutral opinion on this issue ;-)

EDIT: I'm confused. On the league stat leaders, the lowest person in the top 10 has 5 TDs... you have 4. How exactly does that put you in the top 10 again?

When I made this list, the decision was between Martin and Beard for first team. Martin had most yards and 5th most tds. Beard had second most yards and most TDs. To me that made Beard more effective as a back, and so I gave him the nod.
