So Let’s review the standings as they are right now
1 Tuscaloosa Bulls 14-1-0 Beat Bombali, so Clinched #1
2 Bombali Brown-Browns 13-2-0 Lost to Kalahari, so lose and KNR wins and they drop to #3
3 Kalahari Night Riders 12-3-0 Today’s game could mean anywhere from #2 to #4
4 Seychelles Island Sea Wolves 11-4-0 Beat Sahara, Beat Zique, Lost to Ethiopia. This game means anything from #3 to #5
5 Sahara ShadowChasers 11-4-0 Beat Zique, Lost to Ethiopia. Win, and the others all lose, go to fourth, or all the way down to 7th depending on results
6 Mozambique Starvin Marvins 11-4-0 Depending on win losses, can go as high as 3rd with a win, or stay at 6th, or anywhere in between
7 Ethiopian Starvin' Marvins 10-5-0 Could drop to 8th.
8 Beltway Bandits 9-6-0 Beat Ethiopia, so could jump a spot
So what does this mean? All games are a must win. Any loss, and you face losing home field, or a win, and you can skip Tuscaloosa. With all that in mind, let’s see the games.
South African Bulls vs. Fort Wayne Generals
We suck, they suck. No one cares. Good luck Bulls
Sahara ShadowChasers vs. Congo Gorillas
Sahara should easily do their part to finish 12-4. They still lost to Kalahari, so if the other teams all lose, 4th place is theirs, and home field FTW. GO HULK!!!
Beltway Bandits vs. Bombali Brown-Browns
Beltway has clinched, but they don’t want to face the Bulls. However…if they win, and Kalahari wins, and Ethiopia loses, then they face Kalahari which isn’t a much cheerier prospect. Either way, Bombali has much more to gain by the win. Ethiopia faces ZBSR, and should win handily, so Beltway may want to just play with settings to not give anything away for the playoffs. I mean, the odds of the Marvins losing to ZBSR is close to nil, so you might as well experiment with stuff. No matter what they do, Bombali will be a force to reckon with and you can guarantee they will want the win in hopes that they get Ethiopia and their first round playoff curse. In addition, Bombali has been the surprise for me this season, as they have dominated. They should continue that trend today (Although dominate is probably too strong, since Beltway has a great squad). Bombali wins.
Tuscaloosa Bulls vs. Mozambique Starvin Marvins
Tuscaloosa is number one, that’s a given. Mozambique doesn’t necessarily NEED the win, but it would sure help. They lost to Seychelles, and Sahara will win today, so a loss will keep them in 6th. But the win would be bragging rights. And big ones. Question is, will Tuscaloosa be prepping for the playoffs? Or focusing on the wunderkind that is Robb. I am thinking Tuscaloosa doesn’t want the loss going into the playoffs. Marvins lose.
Zimbabwe Bush Squirrel Rebellion CPU vs. Ethiopian Starvin' Marvins
Brightside, Ethiopia ends up with ZBSR for the final game. This should atleast clinch 7th. If by some fluke they lose, there will be anarchy. But let’s say the Marvins win, and Seychelles and Zique lose, you end up with a three way tie (Since honestly, the odds of Sahara losing are nil). Ethiopia lost to Robb, but beat Seychelles. Seychelles beat Robb, but lost to Ethiopia. Robb beat Ethiopia but lost to Seychelles. Stays a three way tie. If my calculations are correct on total offense, then Mozambique gets first, Seychelles second and Ethiopia third. Either way, Ethiopia will finish in the same spot (I think). Either way, they still beat the bots in this one
Tijuana Thundercats vs. Zimbabwe Beavers
A great matchup between two teams that barely missed the cut (And probably won’t next season, so look out). Tijuana is explosive, but Zimbabwe has one of the best O Lines and a beefed up defense. Zimbabwe should take this one, but it won’t be easy. Expect a squeaker by them.
African Killer Frogs vs. Jupiter Snipers
Two teams that never lived up to their potential. A “W” for the Frogs in this one.
Seychelles Island Sea Wolves vs. Kalahari Night Riders
And then there was one…
Seychelles vs. Kalahari is a fairly crucial game for both teams. If Seychelles wins, they will most likely get the Zique Marvins. If they lose, and Zique and Sahara both win? Well then they face Kalahari or the Brown-Browns. If they lose and Zique loses, then they get Sahara. Kalahari needs the win just to hope for a Bombali loss so they can jump to 2. Seychelles is in trouble regardless, cause Kalahari is cruising right now. But just because I <3 the Night Riders far more than Seychelles, I am picking Seychelles to win this one.
Oh and DD wins.
