My vote goes to Dashiell Parr. You gotta respect a backup who can lead the league in receiving yards and TDs.
Although I won't argue his accomplishments, he's not really a backup. He gets the lion's share of passes on a team that throws A LOT. He'd get my vote for WR of the year, but not MVP. Us WR's can't throw the ball to ourselves, and as such I find it hard for us to make such an individual impact on a game. Look at Dash's game against us (West Scranton). He had pretty good stats, but his team lost by a lot.
My vote for MVP, as the player having the greatest impact on the success of his team, is West Scranton's Adam Avalanche. He is single-handedly blowing teams up, and in important games, too. I don't think any one player in the OPL has had that kind of impact.
I know I ran out of time for the POTW thread, just became too much work for 1 person to do. I think next season, I'd like to break it up by week with a few other people. One, it breaks up the work. Two, it gets different opinions other than my own involved.
That said, I will say that right now, my top positional candidates are as follows:
Offense - Alpha
- Danny Meehan, HB, Mean Machine
- "Dan the Man" Marino, QB, Mean Machine
- Jimmy Sneeze, WR, Brantford Mustangs
Offense - Zeta
- King Stones, QB, Banzai Pipeline 'Nites
- Mat Anderson, HB, So Cal BDC
- Brian Butts, WR, Cook Island Convicts
Defense - Alpha
- Adam Avalanche, DT, West Scranton Invaders
- Courtney Arrington, LB, Fiji Sea Turtles (one of two non-playoff team selections)
- Amanda Hugginkiss, CB, Tonga Ikale Tahi
Defense - Zeta
- Willie Dobson, DE, Brisbane Heat
- Denver LastDinosaur, ROLB, So Cal BDC
- Hal Arris, CB, Samoa Gangsters
Kicker / Punter - Alpha
- Sgt. Slaughter, K, Brantford Mustangs
- Ben Allbright, P, Canberra Strike
Kicker / Punter - Zeta
- Adam Vahanian, K, Vanuatu Kava Sharks
- Zoltan Conroy, P, Jersey Wildcats (two of two non-playoff team selections)
