Feel free to point out any errors or explain more of the GLB playoff tie breakers. I was just curious on how things could break down.

Current Records and (Future Schedule) [Losses]:

Caps 13-2 (DrunkN' 10-4)[Steel Curtain, Bishops]
The Caps control their destiny for home field seating.
Scenarios This week the DrunkN' crew travels to Washington to face the Caps. Caps win and take the #1 seed for the playoffs.

War Chant 13-2 (People Eaters 9-5) [Caps, Bishops]
WarChant welcomes the People Eaters for the final game of the season. The P.E. have alot riding on this game.
Scenarios WarChant will host a home playoff game, but seed will not be decided until after the final week. A WarChant loss along with a Caps and S.C. win will drop them to the #3 seed.

Steel Curtain 13-2 (F. Sharks 4-10) [Brah's *West Conf., WarChant]
Steel Curtain is at home for the playoffs
Scenarios S.C. could end up with the 1-3 seed all depending on next weeks outcomes. They hold the tie break over Caps and Bishops. A Warchant loss along and a S.C. win could earn them the #1 seed.

Bishops 12-3 (LOD 9-5)[Scorpions, Steel Curtain, DrunkN']
Bishops have LOD for the final game of the season. The LOD are in a battle to make the playoffs.
Scenarios Bishops have a home Playoff game.

Linesteppers 11-4 (Viktors 1-13) [Bishops, Steel Curtain, Caps, WarChant]
The Linesteppers are in the playoffs and will be on the road.
Scenarios Linesteppers hold the tie break over DrunkN', so unless a MAJOR UPSET OCCURS the Linesteppers go into the playoffs as the #5 seed.

DrunkN'Disorderly 11-4 (Caps 12-2) [WarChant, Tyrants, Linesteppers, S.C.]
The DrunkN' ones have a key game this week with the Caps.
Scenarios Boston could be a spoiler for the Caps. A win could drop Boston to the #3 seed, with a Warchant and S.C. win.

AggieFans Legion Of Doom 9-6 (Bishops) [Linesteppers, S.C., DrunkN', Caps, WarChant, Tyrants]
This week is a key game
Scenarios This is the true win and get in, lose and you might be watching the playoffs from home. Last weeks loss to Tyrants made a possible 3 way tie for the 7/8 spots a real chance. LOD loss along with PPE loss would lead to a 3 team 9-7 tie.

Minnesota Purple People Eaters 9-6 (WarChant) [Bishops, LOD, Linesteppers, S.C., DrunkN', Caps]
A win vs. Warchant a must for playoff hopes
Scenarios With LOD holding the tie break over PPE, they must fight to stay in the playoffs. No bye week for these guys.

Lake Tahoe Tyrants 8-7 (LOD) [*WWW, Linesteppers, S.C., PPE, Caps, WarChant, Bishops]
Key game this week for playoff life.
Scenarios This week Tyrants play LOD for the playoff life. A Tyrant win with a PPE win and they are in Playoffs, A loss and they go home, A win along with a PPE loss and we have a 3 way tie for the 7/8 seed.

How do tiebreakers work in this game?

I hate to ask a stupid question, but why per se are the Caps above the Steel Curtain and the War Chant. Is it head 2 head among the 3 teams?
It can't be conference record since Pittsburgh has the out of conference loss . . .

Is it something I'm completely blanking on?

If 2 teams are equal it is head to head other wise I have no idea thats why I was vague on seedings when it could be a 3 way tie. I have been looking to brush up on this.

I believe a 3 way tie is settled by overall points scored.

Playoff Seeding Tiebreakers
When two or more teams have the same regular season record, seeding comes down to the following tiebreakers.

To determine the winner of a tie within a Conference the following Tiebreakers go into effect:

1.If there are only 2 teams tied (same record), higher seed is the winner of the head-to-head match up.
1.If there are more than 2 teams tied (same record), then it's based upon these factor in this order:
1.Number of head-to-head wins against the other tied teams with the same record.
2.Number of total points scored.
3.Number of total points allowed.
League Championship Home Team
The league championship home team is decided by the following factors.

1.Regular Season Record
2.Number of points scored.
3.Number of points allowed.
Wasn't specified if that is regular season or playoff points, but it's probably regular season.

Never understood the multiple tie for a place myself. We lost to Warchant but beat the Caps. So what is it that goes with the Caps win over the Warchant higher value than us beating the Caps. Like stated, it can't be in the conference wins cause we only lost to 1 East while Caps and Warchant lost to 2 East. The only possible thing I can think of is total points scored. I didn't add up all the totals, but I would guess that Caps have scored the most points between the 3 tied teams and that's why they are first.

Thanks for the answers!

I think conference record should be more important than running up the score, but oh well. In the grand scheme of things, there are other improvements I'd like more.

Here are the current totals of the top 3 teams. Points scored / points allowed.

Caps - 1195 / 233
Warchant - 1088 / 247
Steel Curtain - 1064 / 278

This is if Scrimmages and friendlies don't count. I don't know if they do. I only did totals for regular season.

It would be insane if scrimmages count. Thanks for doing the math.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/team_stats.pl?league_id=33&conference_id=66&stat=other&sort=points_scored&playoffs=0 Here is the current pts scored. 75 pts separate Florida and Pitt- I shouldn't be clarifying this, but... it is in your best interest to score this week. This is why you run it up when you can... sad but true. It's GLB, not NFL or NCAA.

Ah, my numbers are off. I didn't add the totals that went past 255 in games. Just did 255. Figured that's all the comp did. But it really doesn't matter if we end up with more points than Warchant. Because they have the head to head over us. Only way we could benefit (if the 3 teams all win the last game) is for us to have a higher point total than Caps. And that isn't gonna happen.

Exactly!

Some teams had easier opponents than others in their out of conference games. Not going to bitch too much. Us folks at Tahoe should have taken care of business a lot earlier in the season, instead of having to make this second half run.

BTW...for the final 2 spots, if there is a 3-way tie (if I did the math correctly) here are the points for Minnesota PPE, AggieFan, Tahoe

Minnesota -- 1014 (virtual lock)
Aggie -- 929
Tahoe -- 899

So Florida St...can you take a dive in your final game vs. PPE? We're old USA-A2 competitors (old Midway, now Tahoe). If Florida St falls thru, Atlanta..could you oblige us by letting us score at will, we'd much appreciate it. Just kidding, we'll have to do this the old fashion way....bribes

Darn it, I too didn't figure in the over 255 game we each had....if those points do in fact count. If that's the case....Tahoe won't have a chance, we played Detroit later in the season when their defense became much more stout (only 294pts compared to Aggie's 341 and PPE's 299).

I'll tell the boys to prepare for an early Christmas.

Don't listen to this guy, Florida St. We (Caps) need you to win so we can take the top spot (assuming we beat Boston, which we've never done in the reg season). Treat the PPE like the Terps (I was at the FSU/Maryland game, Go Noles!)
