If you have speed and agility at the first soft cap which one would you get to the second soft cap first?

Actually, capping Speed is not very interesting since it's not a Minor/Major OT ability.
There's no benefit if you cap it early (no automatic rise when levelling).

48-50 speed is good. You are fast enough. then I.m.o. If you double cap it you don't have those points to spend in other more vital abilities. PLus no level bonus.

imo no it shouldn't. You can get spd/sta to 40-45 and then train them intense until the end of days, assuming vis/cnf is high enough.

training something that is at 40 is pretty much a giant waste. Once it gets to that point you should cap it before training it anymore (unless you need to in order to intense train something else).

Good point. At the point where you have nothing worthwhile to train but a skill that's in the 40's, it's more efficient, time-wise, to train your highest natural skill.
For instance, an attribute at 80 gains ~4% progress per training session. An attribute at 45 gets ~15%. So about 4 times the benefit. However, it costs 6 skill points to raise the attribute from 80 to 81. It may take a long time, but we're talking nothing but training sessions at this point.
Anyway, if your speed is at 40 or 45, you'll end up capping speed...sooner or later. Ten seasons worth of building is a long time to resist...

I don't find it to be a waste at all. You have to train something. There's no benefit to capping it, period. I'd rather train something 3+ points per season than .8 points a season.

The value of training for 4% at 80 is only worth that 6x multiplier if you would be willing to spend 6 points on it as a replacement. Getting +1 to blocking from 80 to 81 might COST 6SP, but is it WORTH 6SP to you? Probably not....
Saving on cost =/= value of build. Otherwise we'd be softcapping tackling as an OT because of its huge natural gains.
The fact is that a wasted point is a wasted point, no matter what silly natural gains or training might end up getting you. I'd rather train speed at 40 than str/blk at 80.
That said, being forced to train something at 40 probably just means you didn't plan very well. It is what, regretably, my OT is doing now. That doesn't mean I'm going to waste 8 skill points to cap the attribute, so I can get increased training value. I'd rather lose 2 points of training than spend 8 points on vision.
etc...

Come, on. The tackling comparison is a bit of a stretch. I never said to train an irrelevant stat. On the contrary, I said at the 40-48 skill level, it is more efficient, skill point-wise, to train your highest stat, which is more than likely the most relevant one. But I get what you're saying: Is your player better off having taken two stats to 81/40 or 80/43?
Again, ten seasons is a long time, and with boosting, you're guaranteed around 5 levels per season after 30. So roughly 7 seasons of five level gains. Thats 175 skill points after level 30.
I won't get into if 40, 45, or 48 speed is optimal. I'm just glad people are starting to recognize 10 is not.
Absolutes about one being the ideal, no more, no less, are consistently proven wrong each season. Heck, we'll probably be debating if 60, 65 or 68 speed is optimal in a season or two.

yet another good reason to train it while in the 40s
