First half of S6 this forum was jumping and full of activity. Then its as if something happened, so I went to investigate.
One noticeable thing was the disappearance of Oscarr. Very strange indeed. He had been very involved in most threads but his largest impact was the power rankings. Everything just vanished.
While pondering that I realized that many of the previously gregarious UG fellas had been vacant. I thought to myself, "That can be no coincidence, there must be something amiss. When did I spill crap all in my keyboard!"
I completed a time line with a scatter plot of UG activity overlay and a pattern showed through. It appears, from this data, that UG activity took a stark downturn on 11/28 of this year.
Well I was just as curious as all of you. I immediately set out to determine what happened that fateful day and I was shocked at what I discovered. A GLB loss! Not just any loss but a loss to the loaded CA5 BBB's team. I still didn't understand why a loss to a favorite would cause this organization to slip into hiding until I realized what has happened since then.
They escaped a match up with the Warriors (38-28). A match up where they gave up over 600 yards of offense! That must have been scary. However just one game after BBB could not be a big deal....
Then the very next week, with 5 minutes left in the game vs. the Vikings they were ahead only 15-10. They finished with 3 late TDs to make it appear better, but that game could have gone either way.
Then a important clue in this mystery is the most recent game vs. the Dragons. A Dragons team that had shown frailty in games recently. A Dragons team that had been destroyed by the X-men, Irukandji and even the Drift, all teams that are supposed to be UG subordinates. UG were only able to muster just over 300 yards of offense. UG scored a TD in the first could not find the sweet relief of the endzone again in the game. As perspective Alberta and the X-men both scored 9 TDs on the Dragons, the Drift...6.
Yes the Dragons have a solid, respectable team, but these are the 'Gentlemen' of A5, who are reportedly second only to BBB in all of A5.
Could it be that things are not rosy in UG? Could it be the realization that this conference is overcoming them? Could the UG absence be attributed to FEAR? I think the proof is in the actions of these 'Gentlemen'.
It is true that our conference no longer looks to these men in skinny ties and fears them. We look to them and hope a first round match up works out so that we can play them and finally expose their growing weakness.
Warning to the 'Gentlemen'. The Drift is hoping you can keep it together vs. Alberta so that we can get you first round.
We want it!
I think you will find it very difficult to cry while you are waist deep in the Drift, but if you can, we look forward to those icy tears!
Cheers!
