ALPHA CONFERENCE
The Assassins, both Amsterdam teams, Helsinki, and Stockholm have officially clinched playoff spots.
FIGHTING FOR THE TOP
Barcelona Assassins 12-0-0 (Projected: 15-1)
Amsterdam Magic Dragons 11-1-0 (Projected: 15-1)
Amsterdam Red Lights 11-1-0 (Projected: 15-1)
Game 14 will either lock up the conference for the Assassins or plunge the top three teams into a three-way tie with a Red Lights' victory. The tie breaker goes by points scored, which right now would put the Red Lights on top. I'm not sure if 2nd and 3rd would still be a matter of points or defer to the head-to-head matchup, but Barcelona would be ahead on points, and also in the matchup.
---------------------------------
IN THE PLAYOFFS
Helsinki Hitmen 9-3-0 (Projected: 13-3)
The Hitmen's only losses came against the top 3 teams in the conference, and I think that's a trend that will hold for the rest of the season. All three teams that remain on their schedule are still alive in the playoff hunt, so it will be interesting to see if any of these teams boost to get a win over Helsinki.
Stockholm Dynamites 9-4-0 (Projected: 12-4)
A decent matchup with Cologne in game 16 still ahead. There's no chance Liverpool or Hamburg will pull an upset, so even if Stockholm drops two games they'll still have a playoff spot.
---------------------------------
THE BUBBLE
If my predictions come true we will have four teams at 9-7 to fill the last three playoff spots. The rules say it would come down to head to head wins. This wouldn't be easy to sort out. Cologne and South Beach would have two head to head wins, and Barcelona and Athens would only have one. Then I guess the last spot would go to the winner of the Barcelona-Athens game, which I'd call for Athens. I don't want to tax my brain too much about it unless it comes closer to happening.
Barcelona Dare devils 8-5-0 (Projected: 9-7)
Lost to South Beach today, and possible they lose 2 out of 3. Two wins would break the possible four way tie in the 6-9 positions and eject Athens from the playoff picture. A loss against Athens might move them down to 9th, depending on how the tie-breaker works out.
Cologne Ghosts 7-6-0 (Projected: 9-7)
I think they will beat Glasgow and Dusseldorf, finishing them up at 9-7.
South Beach Sea Hawks 7-6-0 (Projected: 9-7)
The Hawks move into the playoff picture at #8, with one tough game left.
Athens Devils 7-6-0 (Projected: 9-7)
They dropped to 9th and are on the outside looking in, but with games against the Dare devils and Hitmen still on the schedule it's possible they lose 2 out of 3 to finish up, but I think it will only be one.
---------------------------------
STILL ALIVE, BUT NOT LIKELY
Dusseldorf Noobs 6-7-0 (Projected: 7-9)
Norwich Nighthawks 6-7-0 (Projected: 6-10)
Glasgow Vultures 5-8-0 (Projected: 6-10)
---------------------------------
MATHEMATICALLY ELIMINATED
San Marino Falcons 3-10-0
Mannheim Spartans 2-11-0
Hamburg Vipers 1-12-0
Liverpool SEA Fusion 0-13-0
