Having been to Amsterdam many times I can't say the city would attract me less with less drugs and less porn. In all honesty the porn is pretty much limited to one area as is, and is pretty easily avoided. The dope will be harder for them to deal with...guess we'll see. Closing even half would still leave a LOT of such establishments.

It'll still be a top notch place to go and chill out. It really is a great city and doesn't deserve it's smutty reputation. Fewer groups of up-for-it "Lads" and dozy hen parties can only be good.

It's one place I've never wanted to go to. I'm anti-drugs, and I'm not paying for women, that's for sure!

I`ve been there once and unless you are a dope headed desperado it`s not that great.

I went there a couple of times in the early 90's - best steak I've ever had anywhere in the world - in the - Argentinian Steakhouse (wonder if it is still there...?)
Drugs don't interest me, women do - wouldn't pay for it - but a bit of "window" shopping never hurt anyone!

I had an absolutely FANTASTIC steak there this last summer. There are so many aregntinian/Uruguan restaurants though (especially near Leidseplein). Most of them are good. You can get a pretty good curry there too. There's one in particular not far from Vondelparken that is highly recommended.

Anyone who thinks it's not great is clearly not looking for some culture, because the museums are fantastic, and its justa anice place to walk around. The only city I've visited that was as pleasant to walk in is Stockholm (something to do with the amount of water maybe).

I visited the Red light district (which is actually advertised as a good place to walk during the day, as the businesses are shut, and the buildings are nice, it being the old part of the city.) - and damn near lost my dinner intoa canal thanks to some of the stuff I saw for sale. The weird thing about "Window shopping" (as it were) is the incredible variety of women working there...all shapes and sizes, and ranging from "she'd have to pay ME...a LOT" to not-far-short-of-Supermodel.

I go there for an annual get together with friends from all over Europe (and beyond), so I'll never lack for a reason to go there.

That was funny Denny. Chiefs will never die folks. Too many people on the team would take it over if the owner didn't want it anymore just to keep it alive. So no matter how much you hope. You will always have to look at your schedule, and chalk the game against Amsterdam as a lost when you try to figure out if you are going to make it to the playoffs.
