1. Gold Coast .. 13-0 .. Clinched
2. Guam Devil Dogs .. 12-1 .. Clinched
3. E.C. Express .. 10-3 .. Clinched
4. New Zealand Knights .. 10-3 .. Clinched
5. Tasmanian Devils .. 10-3 .. Clinched
6. Cook Island Cobras .. 8-5 .. [2]
7. Ino Islanders .. 7-6 .. [3]
8. Adelaide Black Snakes .. 7-6 .. [3]
9. Rawaki Island Phoenix .. 6-7 .. [4]
10. Christchurch Nightmare .. 5-8 .. [6]
11. Papeete Pirate Pandas .. 5-8 .. [6]
12. Sacramento Gunslingers .. 5-8 .. [6]
13. Kiribati Death Traders .. 2-11 .. Eliminated
14. Sacramento Skidmarks .. 2-11 .. Eliminated
15. Amishlongs Wrecking Crew .. 1-12 .. Eliminated
16. Kung Fu Pandas .. 0-13 .. Eliminated

The Knights and Devils punched their tickets this week and locked up playoff spots. Christchurch, Papeete, and Sacremento Gunslingers took a step backward all losing this week. These teams need help to get in the playoff, and one more loss will exclude them from the playoffs. RIP won their 6th straight over a weak Kung Fu team, but the teams in the 6th-8th spots in the standings (Cook Island, Ino, and Adelaide with their impressive showing against E.C.) all won leaving them still needing at least one opponent loss to get in.

It's going to come down to the wire for those last two or three spots I think.

Games with playoff implications coming up in the last few weeks of the season:
Week 14
Adelaide v. New Zealand - New Zealand's in, and Adelaide is coming off a big win over the Express. Adelaide could certainly use this victory to hold off the teams trying to edge into a final playoff spot.
Ino v. Guam - Guam is not the team you want to see when you're trying to hold on to a playoff spot.
Week 15
Cook Island v. Ino - Two teams fighting for positioning square off in week 15. With Ino playing Guam, Cook Island, and E.C. to finish the season, this one might be a must win.
Rawaki Island v. New Zealand - A tough match-up for a team that is trying to jump over teams to make it to the post-season. With their matchup with Adelaide the week before, the Knights could have as much to say as anyone about who makes it in Alpha.
Week 16
Rawaki Island v. Adelaide - RIP has reeled off 6 straight wins, but this one could be a must win for them if they don't get it done against a tough New Zealand team the week before.

Got anything to say besides running down the other division? It's really hard to say who's better since there's only one inter-conference game during the season. The fact that it comes at the beginning tells us even less. I know that RIP is much better now than we were at the beginning of the season. Does that mean we are the best team around? Probably not, but I think it makes us competitive.

We'll find out which conference is tougher in the championship game. Personally, I worry about putting my team in position to win rather than bragging about how superior my conference is. You sound like SEC fans that always brag about how many games Florida or LSU or Alabama wins despite the fact they cheer for Kentucky.

An Ohio State fan sounding like an SEC fan....

Just saying that game is surprising

I think Zeta is the weaker conference. There are 5 teams with 2 wins or less. Given, Alpha has 4 teams like that. But I guess then Alpha has less weak teams then.

That usually would indicate that A)Zeta has a few more "elite" type teams and B)the competition in the middle of the pack in Alpha is tighter. Does that make one conference that much better than the other? Right now, I think you'd be hard pressed to pick anyone other than Gold Coast or Guam to be the favorite to come out of the Alpha, while the #8 team just beat the #3 and the #9 team has won 6 straight games.

All I know as the DC for the Nightmare was that I'm glad so far this season we're the only team to hold Gold Coast under 50 points.

I don't think that game is actually that surprising. Adelaide always manages their game plans well and tends to surprise people. If anything, I've been surprised that Adelaide has been losing so much lately.

I tend to agree that Alpha is the stronger conference than Zeta. Both the Marauders and Devil Dogs are a step up in the conference (I think the Marauders are probably a big step up), while in Zeta only the Buckeyes strike me as being a step above everyone else. Don't get me wrong - Newcastle is a good team, but I think they're on the same level as the Devils. I also think the bottom of Alpha is more competitive (as evidenced by #8 doing well against #3), so if there are more top teams and stronger bottom teams, Alpha > Zeta.

Also, it doesn't really matter because Mean Machine and PPC are probably the best teams in Oceania so even if we do all make it to the top we won't have a championship prayer for at least several seasons, so we might as well enjoy where we're at.

+1 to what The Buckmister said. The competition in Alpha is very tight, and frankly there could be a lot of surprises in the playoffs.

After just playing the Christchurch Nightmare, I'm absolutely amazed they have lost eight games and believe they would be dominating in Zeta. Not trying to take anything away from Osaka and the Minotaurs as they are elite teams, but Alpha is stacked.

Alpha really is. The play-off race is gonna be nuts and pretty much come down to game planning.

Well this is an Alpha thread so blustering is allowed

But what were you smoking when you wrote that!

I will jump in with both feet and make a statement that if you paired Alpha/Zeta teams 1-10 against each other, Alpha would not be able to write this.

As a matter of fact, I would propose that after/during the playoffs, we have an Alpha/Zeta tourney from 1-10...regardless of when they went out in the playoffs.

End of season #1's pair up
End of season #2's pair up, etc.

Should be able to get it all done. If not all done, who cares...will be fun and provide for more smack talk. The only difference is teams won't be able to talk out their arses....the proof will be in the pudding so to speak!

So...bring on Christchurch and all the other Alpha "elite" teams to pound on Zeta!

Ino Vrs Guam analysis:

Poley>Guam Defense

Guam Offense>Ino Defense.
