I have had this idea for a while now, and after the firm, sound, and well-earned woopin we got from Tana today, I decided it was time to actually post the idea.

Please dont take offense to it Tana, dont take it the wrong way, its an idea I have had for a while, well, since DV used gimmick plays to beat us last season.

Its a progressive tax on players' attributes when running the same play a million times, and only has effect on that specific play. Its a great way to protect ourselves and keep the playing field level, honorable, and fair.

While an extremely rare occurance that comes at great cost, I do come up with logic at times.

I think something should be done if the same play is ran over and over and over. I don't think a penalty should be given to the offense though. I think the defense should cheat to stop that play. The DT or DE could fill a specific gap or the LB could cheat up to meet the ball carrier. It happens in real football. The offense doesn't automatically start playing worse, but the defense adjusts. This of course may leave them open to a fake.

Yeah the Defense getting a boost would be the best alternative. I think that's what most people are agreeing with in the two threads I have seen on this topic.

The only thing hurting this movement is the people who like to say..."but this is a game, it's not REAL football". That's the easiest and most frequent cop out I have seen people use on these forums.

that's when it gets too complex though. the same could be said of the offense. If I set up my 1st down play to always be Strong I off tackle. and now the defense "learns" to stop it. well, then I want my offense to also "learn" that if my 3rd and short I formation run inside is constantly getting stuffed by the opponents goal line defense... It would in a real game. I would audible out of that into a pass.

Anything that gives way to a more even playing field would do the trick. The specifics are almost irrelevant as long as you reach the desired result. I think its a pretty fair idea so that why I push it.

Yea thats a great point too, it illudes to the fact there are alot of issues with the way things work still. Some more urgent than others.

true, some things need fixing more that others.

but as OC I tend to look at it from that perspective

It's a good idea, but it's been brought up multiple times before. IMO it looked like the off-tackle run has been nerfed somewhat. The LB's in every league seem to respond quicker, almost like they know it's coming.

well im not a coach and havent seen all the screens but why not put in audibles u could preset before games for certain plays that teams seem to always run sounds pretty sound right
