Okay here are the rankings after game 8.
Here is what I went by:
1) Record or win/loss
2) Strength of roster

LW = Last Weeks ranking

You may or may not agree with them, but this is how I see them.

****POWER RANKINGS****

#1 Pretoria Pigs (8-0) LW 1 - Another win, what else is new. The Pork Chop Pals travel to Zimbabwe to get a ninth straight win.
1st Half Grade: A, pretty much what we expected of them.They should be just as tough in the second half.

#2 Taipei Little Fish Rangers (8-0) LW 2 - Game 1 of vacation is down, 1 more to go.
1st Half Grade: A+, well what a nice surprise to have a mid-level team go 8-0 in the first half. Watch out for a rough second half.

#3 Texas Armadillos (7-1) LW 3 - The Armadillos are looking to be one of the top teams in Lion Conference. But first........Fiesta time! The 2 bot teams are next!
1st Half Grade: A, the two man team has done a really great job in the first half. No way they are not making the play offs.

#4 Banghazi Barbary Lions (7-1) LW 4 - Well 7-1 was an impressive start in Africa AA#4, but now a very tough second half schedule comes up and things are dark on the Banghazi horizon.
1st Half Grade: A, I in no way expected to be 7-1 at the half way mark. But our fortunes will soon turn around.

#5 Detroit Drive-By (6-2) LW 6 - What busy little bees the Drive-By have been, bringing in some new faces to make a serious run in the second half. And they will start with Banghazi up next.
1st Half Grade: B+, 1st half was pretty much what was expected playing the bots and Zulu in the 1st half. Second half should be even better.

#6 Impending Doom (5-3) LW 7 - Well Doom, you stopped the skid and beat the Predators. You're second half schedule will make the road to the play offs smooth sailing.
1st Half Grade: B, with that roster maybe we expected more, but you still had a good first half.

#7 The African Predators (5-3) LW 5 - 5-3 in the first half gives this team a nice edge in making the play offs. I really can't see them not making it.
1st Half Grade: A, beating up the competition and coming close to beating the higher level teams is pretty impressive.

#8 Strong Badia Tires (3-5) LW 10 - Strong Badia has won three in a row and is looking like Strong F'n Goodia right now. Can they keep it up against the Doom?
1st Half Grade: D+, the first five opponents were tough, but you still gotta win games. They should rebound in the second half.

#9 Zimbabwe Bulls (3-5) LW 8 - As much as I'm pulling for the Bulls to get some players and make a second half run at the play offs. With teams like Pretoria, the Predators and a resurgent Strong Badia team, i don't think it will happen.
1st Half Grade: D+, if you had more depth, oh the games you could have won. Keep trying though.

#10 Lagos Eagles (3-5) LW 9 - Well Lagos you had an easy first half of the schedule. Now you play a real tough second half.
Not too pretty.
1st Half Grade: D, three wins against three bot teams just doesn't cut it.

#11 Algeria Desert Foxes (2-6) LW 11 - OMG! Algeria, come on now! I root for ya. I praise ya. I pick you as favs against a team that's been scored on more times than my ex-wife, that slut!
And what do ya do?...........you lose.
Shame on you Desert Foxes! Shame on you!
1st Half Grade: D, they are like the Forrest Gump box of chocolates "you never know what you're gonna get".

#12 Nigerian Nightmares (2-6) LW 12 - Well Nightmares, the bad news is you guys are pretty much out of it.
The good news is there are 4 teams worse than you this season. So you will be staying in AA#4 for next season.
1st Half Grade: D, Nightmare's played more like sweet dreams in the first half, they should have a better second half.

#13 Zulu Brotherhood (1-7) LW 13 - Congrats on win numero uno Zulu's!! No more goose egg in the win column. Feelin good now Zulu's? Well you should, Zanzibar is up next! Here comes W #2!
1st Half Grade: D, not the worst team in the conference, but they haven't shown anything until game 8. Maybe their second half will be better.

#15 Zanzibar Face-Eaters (0-8) LW 15 - Well looky here! Zanzi-bot is now half bot. Way to recruit fellas'. A little late, but at least you are trying. Good luck Face Eaters!

Week 4: 5-3, Week 5: 7-1, Week 6: 6-2, Week 7: 7-1, Week 8: 6-2

#1 Pretoria Pigs (8-0) at #9 Zimbabwe Bulls (3-5) = Pretoria - Pigs won't have turkey for Thanksgiving. Beef, it's what's for dinner.

#7 The African Predators (5-3) at #12 Nigerian Nightmares (2-6) = Predators - Predator vs Nightmare, sounds like a good monster movie to me. Goin with the Predators.

#11 Algeria Desert Foxes (2-6) at #10 Lagos Eagles (3-5) = Algeria - two teams that need a win and relatively even in levels.

We put up a damn good game VS the armadillos actually getting more rushing AND receiving yards than they did. We have 5 new players (or we will by the end of tonight) We (at least imo) only lost because of the one turnover of the game..our fumble.

Im not downing texas at all..they beat us and they are a great team. IMO though 17-6 vs th number 3 team and getting more passing and rushing yards earns us a spot higher than 9.

I think we will end the season far better than we started.

Either way...GG Texas. We hope to see you in the playoffs. =)

Id have to say the Bulls/Armadillos game was a 6/6 beers...but that of course..is just my opinion.

You're getting there Tazer stubbornness is the key to all success, and I sense that in you ! hehe. Your one of the best things about this league, your honest, stubborn and play the game right.


"Ass"asain, your creative in everything you do, you shake it up and make it all interesting. It doesn't have to be paragraphs or some deep analysis. Mid season grades, beer ratings, the best and most timely league posts I have ever seen in all my seasons here, and that goes back to season 2.

Here's to the second half being a darn site better than that miserable first half

I... I'm sorry. I really am. And honestly... I just don't know what to do anymore. But I'm gonna shake things up in Algeria. Not from the standpoint of players, but... from the standpoint of the front office and coaching.

Next season, I've got a TON of players coming over that're REALLY gonna make us a sudden favorite. Next season we'll know if the Desert Foxes have what it takes to compete or be the Detroit Lions. Just be on the lookout for TROGDOR... because he most likely WILL be playing for Algeria next season.

Aw come on both of ya....Smiley we go and beat the everlovin hell out of a team ranked higher than us and they don't move down your ranks and we don't move up. Zulu sittin at the bottom of the ranks understandable given we were 0-7 but the combined record of those teams we lost to is 45-10. Aside from Badia, who's played about as rough a schedule as us, every one of them has a winning record including 3 8-0 teams.

And SeverCitrin...dude...Algeria...are you really surprised you lost to us? We had actually circled this game as the one where we finally have a chance and aren't running into teams that outlevel at most positions. We would have been surprised to lose this one unlike the other 7 on the schedule. We're in over our heads against most of the teams in this conference...but not all of them.

Man I love playing in this league. Hopefully we can get a bit more depth ourselves and not shoot ourselves in the foot late in the game. Looks like we'd probably have to win out to make the playoffs this season which might not be too easy... we have played most of the top teams already but still have some tough contests left. Anyway, cheers from the Tires on a great write-up!!
