well im tired of seeing a bunch of good ideas being pushed down to page 2 or even 3 from flex point crap so i thought id compile them. Im giving the person who made the thread full credit.

Current AI Name

AI Setup

The Offensive Playbook selection page is set up really well for editing and making active. I think it would be a good idea to set up the Offensive and Defensive AI pages just like that. It would make it easier to see which on is active, easier to edit so you don't have to make it active to edit it, and it would cut down on the number of suggestions that lead to wanting the name of the AI on the top of the page (which is actually a good idea).

I move that the auto-adjust feature should be set independently for offense and defense. Also, it should just alter the specified percentages in the respective Offense and Defense AI tactical settings.

It should not apply to both and diverge from the playbook and AI tactics.

Offense:
Instead of adding in a whole slew of new formations I'd like to see variants on the current formations. I guess something like the Wishbone formation (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2b/Wishbone_Formation.PNG/300px-Wishbone_Formation.PNG) or T formation could be "fun". There's also our 4 WR sets that don't exist at the moment.

Sepcial Teams:

How about, I don't know, maybe setting the KOS and KRS squads up so when you put your players in a specific order they STAY in the specific order.

I'm tired of setting up my KOS with high speed guys in the gunner positions to only have them shift later in the game (due to energy) to the inside line where they do nothing but clog the middle with their broken bodies. On top of this, the LINEMEN then get shifted to the gunner spots...as gunners...

I'm going to add to this.

also be able to setup kickoff/kick return.

Kick Return:
Left
Middle
Right

for whichever option you choose, everyone follows. say you choose right in the AI for first quarter. the Wedge and Returners all go to the right and the front line blocks people into the middle/left.

Kickoff:
Left
Middle
Right

you should also be able to setup gunners and lanes.
maybe oyu want 4 gunners and the rest of the players to go in lanes. or if your kicking to the left, you want 4 gunners on the left, one on the right and everyone else in lanes. etc etc.

Also let the punters do kickoffs if we want them to.

Punt:
Choose who the onside man is.
if you are protective or not.

Fake Punt
why not be able to fake punt pass? or fake punt direct snap to a ball carrier.
obviously i wouldn't want this implemented yet, but in the future have it in the AI.

have a whole new Special Teams AI setup

Punt Return:
if you want to try to block the punt or return it with more players deep.
also be able to block the punt.

Field Goals/PATs
set who holds the ball. add in fake PAT pass/run.
be able to block the FG

Fake FGs/PATs
be able to direct snap it to a RB or have the QB/Punter be able to throw the ball

Blitz Focus

You could have the HB/FB look for the blitz based on Position or Direction. Depending on which one you select, a different drop-down menu of choices is opened...

by 'Position':
ROLB
RILB
LILB
LOLB
CB 1,2,3,4,5
SS

Outside Left

'None' would obviously be the default.

QB1/QB2 Idea with a Defensive Scheme

Before you respond, and flame this thread, please read the whole entire thing, with all the parameters.

I know Bort said no QB1 and QB2 Slots, but i only think it is fair to the owners of Scrambling QBs.

You have different types of RBs, FBs and TEs.
You have Recieving and Blocking TEs, you have Rushing and Blocking FBs, and you have Power, Speed, and Catching HBs.
The same can be said for QBs-you have Scrambling QBs(and also Rushing QBs) and you have Pocket Passers.

My proposed suggestion would also include one rule that would be impossible to break: No matter what, the only positions eligible for the QB1 and QB2 slots would be QBs.

I repeat: HBs, FBs, WRs, TEs, O-Linemen, Kickers, Punters, and all Defensive Players would be INELIGIBLE to play either of these spots, no matter what. This would solve the "Wildcat Problem" that Bort is trying to prevent and would allow specialized QBs to excel in the right systems.

Ok, and to steal an idea from Prokop, people will say that this makes the defense even more vulnerable than before, because the defense has no way to adapt to these changes, but i will dually propose, with Prokop, that the Defense be able to set their schemes based on, besides other options, the who is on the field at various positions. Here is his post, u mite have to scroll down a bit:http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1311176

For example:

Defensive AI: When the Offense is in a Singleback with QB1 and HB1, the defense will use a 3-3-5 Center Shift, blitz MLB and SS.

When offense is in Singleback with QB2 and HB1, then defense would use 4-2-5, Strong Shift, blitz ROLB only.

To add in Turner's post:

It's been said before, by many many people, but as I don't want to dig through millions of threads to find three or four, and within each one of those for one or two statements, I'll simply say it here. If you said this before, don't cry...the credit is yours. I'm just gonna make it stick.

On way to implement what we want at this point (QB1, QB2), would be to implement another thing with it for the Defense - Spy Coverage

There is a great need for this in the passing game already, as HBs and FBs wander around the field not even being looked at until they catch a 10 yd pass for a 20 yd gain before anyone even gets close enough to bring them down.

Different Spy Coverage types are as follows, and most of them are for LBs specifically, but sometimes Safeties get in on the action:

QB Spy
- Usually the MLB or LILB's job, and all he does is mirror the Quarterback's movements. If the QB starts to scramble out of the pocket, and move towards the line of scrimmage, the LB will mirror this movement, and basically hunt the QB down, making sure they meet at the line of scrimmage if that QB decides to chance running it, resulting in no gain - unless a FB is smart enough to stick around to block.

QB Read
- This one's a bit tricky, and is usually the job of a Safety, and I'm not sure which one exactly, maybe someone will know and can correct me here. But basically, the Safety will sit back in a sort of short zone coverage, but not really break off to cover anyone unless he really HAS to. No, his job here is to watch where the QB is looking, and try to make a break on the ball just a moment before the QB lets it go, for the hope of a pick, or to at least help the CB knock it down. The downside? Much more likely to get burned by a pump fake, and take off the wrong way, and if it's a run, he'll not realize it for a minute.

HB Spy
- Basically the same as the QB Spy coverage, and would again be the MLB or one of the ILB's jobs (whichever was strong side at the time). All he's gonna do here is mirror the HB's motions. If it's a run play, this LB should, in theory, meet him at the line of scrimmage. Cutback plays before the handoff, and a good blocking FB can bust this type of coverage wide open, but stopping the run isn't really what's trying to be done here. No, the reason for this type of coverage is to do one thing - make sure the HB is covered if he runs out on a pass route.

If these things were implemented, it would solve the "I can't stop a scrambler unless this this and that!!!" complaints, and also, stop all these goddamn HB and FB pass plays from being so wide open and making my head hurt watching it.

Valhalla PMed me an excellent addition to this thread, it is a visual of how the Defensive AI should look:

I'd like to see 3 fields added to the input on the Defensive AI; Name, Position and Slot. By adding these you would get the ability to call defenses based on the personnel on the field.

It would look something like this:

Input: _______ (Hide/Show Options) Move Up | Move Down | Delete This Input

Time Remaining in quarter Ball Spot (yard line) Down Yards to first down
less than __ seconds Between__ and__ Between__ and__ Between__ and __

Score Difference Opponent's Formation Number of WR's in Set
Between__ and__ ___________ Between__ and __

My Timeouts Left Opponent Timeouts Left
___ ___

These are the additional fields-
Name Position Slot
[Browse]____________ ___ ___

Name- Have the ability to browse and select any player with his user ID (to cut down on misspellings). The default for this field would be "any"
Position-All of the positions would be listed, the default would be "any"
Slot- The slot corresponding with the position. For example if you selected WR as the position, selecting 1 as the slot would mean WR1. The default would be "any"

By adding these fields, you can select a defensive output(s) based on who's on the field such as a specific QB being in the game, or get even more specific in the case of a particular HB that typically runs a specific play. If there's no match then it drops down to the more generic input you have setup for down, distance, formation, etc...

One add on to the name/position/slot thing in the Input, is that you could also add those same 3 fields to the Output as a way to create preferred matchups.

Name Position Slot
Input Player X WR 1
Output Player Y CB 1

In addition to that(from Valhalla as well), you could have the ability to save an entire lineup as a Preset that you could call up in the output.

Name Position Slot Lineup
Input Player Z QB Any
Output Any Any Any *3-3-5 Package 1

*-this example would be a full DC lineup that was saved and the personnel tailored to stopping something specific, including backups.

It might be better overall if you had the ability to set this outside of the Input/Output too so you didn't have to do this 50 different times, but if you wanted this type of control at a play level, I think this could work.

All three of these are great ideas and we welcome any contributions

Fairly simple idea that I think makes a lot of sense:

Backs have an extra "individual player tactic" for pass blocking. Choices are to look "outside, in" or "inside, out". This would help out a lot against teams that have a great pass-rushing OLB. Example:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=271770&pbp_id=6921797

I understand vision would probably help, and I'm not so much complaining, as I'm more of a "defensive-minded" guy anyway. Again, I just think this idea would make a lot of sense. Thoughts?
