A great week of 7-1 for Swift's predictions (although his team got stomped), bringing the season up to 30-10.
Here are the point spreads for this week if you are going to play in the Pick 'Em game. It is not too late to play!! You can still start out even with Swift (I've been spotting the others points for 2 weeks!). If you want to play, post your selections in the "Zeta Pick 'Em Game 8 Selections" thread.
Game 8 Predictions
============================================================================================================================
Wellington Assassins (7-0) vs DECATUR STALEYS (4-3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Wellington is fresh off another sound victory and has clearly established themselves as the team to beat. DECATUR has had two tough loses back to back and will have a third this week, the only question is how badly. Will the STALEYS produce some points? Wellington really enjoyed shutting down the Devils last game and would like to do it to the STALEYS as well, but I think DECATUR will manage to score a FG. Wellington by 87, 91-3.
Olden Swillers (6-1) vs Apia Evil (4-3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We may not have been sure how to judge Olden a couple of games ago, but after three strong showings in a row, they have moved themselves into a tie for second place. Apia is feeling pretty good (or evil perhaps) after 2 good wins of their own. Unless Apia can use the evil eye to stun the Swillers, Olden will win this game. Olden will have their gogles in place and pick the Evil in the eye. Olden by 31, 41-10.
Perth Pirates (6-1) vs Redcliffe Sharks (4-3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Perth proved me wrong yet again. Now I am just looking forward to their matchups again Olden and Wellington, but in the meantime they face the Sharks. Redcliffe is on a nice little three game winning streak. Sitting above .500, Redcliffe would like to stay that way. Can they make the Pirates walk the plank into the Shark infested waters? Uhhh, no. Perth will win sailing away by 42, 52-10.
Sydney Sea Wasps (5-2) vs Saipan Stingrays CPU (1-6)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Sea Wasps, coming off their tough loss to the Pirates, come up against the mighty Stingrays. The Stingray is a stronger more fierce sea creature than the fluffy, floaty Sea Wasp, but the Sea Wasps attack in large numbers, wave after wave. But all that is irrelavant, because once you put a Sea Wasp into a football uniform, they transform into a fierce gridiron fighting beast. Saipan has no ray of hope for this contest as Syndey out stings the Stingrays by 223, 230-7.
Newcastle Dream (5-2) vs Newcastle Mountain Lions (5-2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, the battle we have waited for all season to see who is the true champion of Newcastle. At one end of the field of battle we have Duke dutchboyx9 with his squire SyedAshrafulla. On the other side we have Count tswfyu and the fair maiden Spicy LadyFriend. Only one can leave the field with honor, the other in shame. Who will be crowned the Lord of Newcastle for the next year? And who will be banished until they can raise a new army to enter back into Newcastle to challenge one again? The winner will be Newcastle by 3, 20-17. Oh, that wasn't what you were looking for??? This year, the Lord of Newcastle will be....Duke dutchboyx9. The Dream will have to wait for another year.
Devonport Devils (4-3) vs Intergalactic Sub-Mariners (2-5)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Devils have taken a pounding 3 games in a row and a reeling. Intergalactic is coming off of a really strong showing in shutting out the Stingrays. Can the Sub-Mariners knock the Devils out while they are down? Or will the Devils shake off the last 3 games and start a strong comeback? The Devils finally get the break they need to get back on track and win by 25, 42-17.
Hamilton Falcons (3-4) vs Chippewa Prey (0-7)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Hamilton was able to spread their wings last game and soar over the Wild frontier of Alaska. While they were up there, they spotted some plump little wild hens called Chippewa that looked perfect for their next meal. Flying high, the Falcons continue their winning ways as they eat up the Chippewa Prey. Hamilton by 88, 105-17.
Alaska Wild (1-6) vs DHARMA Lack of Initiative (0-7)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In the final matchup of the week, we have Alaska Wild playing the DHARMA (I'm in a death role) Lack Of Initiative. This will be one of the highlights of the year for Alaska as they get to run Wild all over DHARMA. Alaska wins by 46, 70-24.
Well, that wraps up week 8 which will bring us to the half-way point of the season. Next week we'll see who will make the playoffs, who's going to have to fight to get their, and who can already start planning for the off-season.
