Well the season approaches the mid-way point and some teams continue to impress, others are just starting to impress and some are in dire straights.
Apprecaite all the love and everyone missing me, just was busy with some real life issues and after the Chuck Norris beatdown my Wolves took I had to re-do all of our offensive settings from scratch.
In any case here is the rundown
Top 2
1. Hollywood Knights(7-0)
Put the Manlets firmly behind the eight ball giving them a pretty good beating. The Manlets and Hollywood were nearly equal in points scored but the Knights forced more turnovers and managed to take control of this game in the thrid quarter and not look back.
Next Three Games: Mamertini, C-Knights, Sidewinders
Projected: 10-0
2. Chuck Norris(7-0)
Belted the Minotaurs around as they continue their assualt on an A5 title, can anyone knock off the goalith? Unlikely, and certainly not gonna happen this week.
Next Three: Outlaws, Manglers, Hague
Projected: 10-0
Still very dangerous
3. Warsaw Wolves(5-2)
Shutout, shutdown, and slapped around the Gladiators. Perhaps their reminded the Wolves of the Roman Legion and vicarious payback was the flavor of the day. Or perhaps they just enjoyed sacking the old Draftniks QB for revenge. My guys can't enjoy their victory for too long as the upstart Bulls head into town in two days.
Next Three: Bulls, Minotaurs, Outlaws
Projected: 8-2
4. Hague Pirates(6-1)
Hague delivered a sound beating to the C-Knights helping the C-Knights get 1 step closer to relegation. They should practice up and prepare for Chuck Norris in three weeks.
Next Three: Sidewinders, Tigers, Chuck
Projected: 8-2
A step back
5. Iberian Bocs(5-2)
Manhandled the Mammertini scoring 5 times in the first quarter alone. QB Scott Carroll ran the one man show racking up 431 yds in the game and abusing the Mammertini secondary. Time for them to breath take a sigh of relief and rack up some wins before facing tougher competition down the road
Next Three: C-Knights, Sidewinders, Tigers
Projected: 8-2
6. Milano Mamertini(5-2)
Have suffered back to back losses but this is the power rankings and I dont take away too much for losing to teams that are better than you. They have to figure something out though if they hope to move up in the world. As the season turns even tougher next.
Next Three: Hollywood, Manlets, C-Knights
Projected: 6-4
The Best of the rest
7. Pamplona Bulls(4-3)
Let those Bulls run , run, run huge win for them over the Vikings. Really cemented themeselves as a playoff contender and their first quality win in the league. They lead with their D holding the Vikings to under 100 yards rushing and 300 total yards of offense. Their offense still won't scare any of the major players but you gotta love their grit.
Next Three: Warsaw, Roman, Manlets
Projected: 5-5
In a world of hurt
8. Misc Manlets(2-5)
Three straight losses ...I never thought I would write that about the Manlets. Also they flat out got pasted by Hollywood. Hopefully a step down in their competition level will get them back on track. I don't want to count them out but there certainly is something not right with this team.
Next Three: Rome, Mamertini, Bulls
Projected:4-6
9. Vienne Vikings(3-4)
Got flat out beat by a more physical opponent. Couldn't connect through the air and couldn't move the ball on the ground. Really needs to take a look at what they are doing as a team and figure some things out if they are to make the second season. Their upcoming schedule should at least help in terms of wins.
Next Three: Athens, Outlaws, Manglers
Projected: 6-4
10. Luxemborg Tigers(3-4)
I can't say I favor their upcoming opponents but still this team continues to make solid strides, I wouldn't mind them as a first round matchup this season but next season it could be lookout time. .500 should be their goal for this season as they have put together a solid base. I'll be rooting for them.
Next Three: Manglers, Pirates, Bocs
Projected: 4-6
Game of the Week: Milano Mammertini versus Hollywood Knights
Everyone knows the Knights can score through the air, what people usually dont notice is just how stout their run defense really is. Powerfull impressive team that is ready to take on all comers. To beat them the Mamertini would have to throw the rock, and I just can't see them doing that effectivly enough. I think the Knights walk away with this one by half.
Hollywood 64 Mamertini 21
Must See TV: Warsaw Wolves vs. Pamplona Bulls
The Bulls are finally the team I thought they might be this time last year the problem is my Wolves are probably too athletic for them. I think the Bulls will hang around at least for a half but after that it'll be a Wolves feast.
Wolves 59 Bulls 28
Take care and prepare for the mid-season edition
