1. Laredo Lesbians at Oregon Orangutans
Undefeated Laredo comes off its first taste of defeat to Omaha from A#4. Considering the lead was lost in the final quarter, Oregon will need to shore up its end-of-game tactics to eke out a win.
Suffering a winless season, things aren't looking up for the Orangutans in this one.
Prediction: Laredo 95, Oregon 3
2. Houston Cougars at Tampa Bay Greyhounds
Not to be overlooked, Tampa Bay is putting the West on high alert, looking to remain undefeated against a 1-5 Houston outfit.
After having lost by more than fifty points to Bridge City, Houston is looking to minimize mistakes and control the clock in an effort to make the score respectable. This appears to be one of those teams that has a solid group of players, but is affected by low team chemistry.
It may be difficult to control the clock with the commitment Tampa Bay has shown in the ground game this season. Bishop Thomas leads all conference rushers with 1,241.5 yards.
Tampa Bay has not lost a game by less than six points all season.
Prediction: Tampa Bay 45, Houston 10
3. LA Chupacabras at LUElinks LUEshis
What could be a barn-burner will probably come down to who controls the clock and minimizes turnovers. All too often, wins and losses between evenly-matched teams are dependent upon these two key factors. Chemistry is a non-factor in this one.
I'm guessing that LUElinks is thinking their record is better than LA's for a reason.
Prediction: LUElinks 42, LA 20
4. Camp David Commander-In-Cheifs at Austin Breakers
Things just don't get any easier for Camp David as it prepares to face the Breakers, who come off an impressive 60-point slaughtering of the Auckland Raiders.
While both teams have maxed-out chemistry, Camp David at least has the security of knowing it can finish no worse than 2nd-worst in the conference. One more win this season would keep the team in A#4 for another season.
Prediction: Austin 154, Camp David 3
5. Oakland Nation at Anchorage Vikings
After Laredo scored the go-ahead touchdown with under two minutes to go, Anchorage looks to exact revenge of their first seasonal loss against an Oakland team who lost by 14 to Laredo back in Week 3.
This game has huge playoff-seeding implications, as the winner will be sitting pretty for a chance at homefield advantage, while the loser may be looking at the bottom-half of the playoff bracket at season's end.
The Matchup Comparison shows Oakland with the slight advantage, but Anchorage's schemes will try to have something to say for that.
The key here is if Oakland can force Anchorage into a rare turnover or two and that makes this the runner-up for MY GAME OF THE WEEK!
Prediction: Anchorage 31, Oakland 24
6. Auckland Raiders at Bridge City Trolls
This should be a fairly-even matchup, though Bridge City carries a chip on its shoulder in the form of its aerial attack. Auckland, which has had a decent start thus far, must find a way to fill Len Dawson's passing lanes. Dawson has 9 INT on the season so far, so a turnover or two could be the deciding factor in this one. However, I think Bridge City mixes it up enough to prevent Auckland from focusing too much on the pass.
Prediction: Bridge City 45, Auckland 27
7. Farkistan Squirrels at Austin Alcholics
Austin is out to prove it's better than its 2-4 record, but will have to go up against a prepared Farkistan squad with the same record.
Farkistan has made it through the nightmare start to its season with that 2-4 record and is looking at winnable games in three of the next six attempts.
Austin also looks at the favorable part of its schedule, with three of the next five games as possible victories.
This game will prove critical to either teams' hopes of obtaining the eighth seed in the playoffs for Season 6.
The Squirrels are BBB#7 Season 2 champs, while the Alcoholics won the league a season later. This pairing makes this contest MY GAME OF THE WEEK!
Prediction: Farkistan 31, Austin 28 on a last-minute FG.
8. San Jose SkyForce at Wolverhampton Wolverines
San Jose finally reaches the easy victory of the schedule against a newly-named Wolverhampton team searching for its first seasonal victory.
While there is some quality talent on the Wolverines' roster, it will be a good long while before they can ever compete in A#4. With the knowledge they'll be demoted at the end of the season into one of the lower BBB leagues, they're looking at who fits into the system and what to build upon for the future.
Prediction: San Jose 189, Wolverhampton 3
