Well, covering for upnorth once again as he has to go out of town. Enjoy

Lion:
Some Good games this week, but also some pretty clear blow-outs. Should make for an exciting round tho, with possibility's of some upsets and table rotations.

Atlantic Blue Jays at Katanga Diamonds
Katanga has blown away all competition so far this season, and are looking to continue their winning streak against the Blue Jays. Both offense and defense has looked good so far, and they are big favorites in today's game. The Blue Jays haven't looked convincing, but their win against Burundi showed that they can play. The leadership have announced a regular crisis despite the 3-3 record, and it is hard to see them being able to challenge Katanga in this one. They are in the beginning of the tough streak of their schedule, and this time of the season will determine if a play-off spot is won, or not.
Diamonds win 68-10

Ethiopia Executioners at Red Sea Wave
Another game without much doubt as to who will be the victor. 6-0 vs 0-6, it cant be much clearer than that. RSW has had some very comfortable wins, and a few close ones. But they have pulled out in the tough situations. They need to keep that going today, as all pts are needed before the tough season end. Ethiopia is the lowest ranked team in Lion, and should pose no threat to RSW. Not much to say about them, other than they are bad and will more than likely end up taking a trip to the A leagues nest year.
RSW wins 93-3

Freetown Palookas at Burundi Hutu
Palookas have started off with the soft part of the schedule, but has none the lest been very impressive. There has been no doubt about the outcome of their wins, and both D and O have been looking up to speed. Will be very interested to see if they con win another comfortable win against the Hutu. Burundi had a painstaking loss streak where they lost by 1, 2 and 3 pts repectively. Worst of all is, that it was mainly to teams that they will be competing for a play-off spot against by the looks of it. Last game they got back on track with a solid but not too impressive win against cupcake Ethiopia, but they will have to bring a whole different kind of game if they want to beat Freetown. Freetown are clear favorites, but this could be a very close game. Freetown fans want another big win, lets see if they can give it to them. Not impossible if Burundi arent focused.
Pick 'Em

African Fire at Band of BrothersGAME OF THE WEEK
BoB comes rolling in on a 3 win streak, and confidence is high on this team. Only loss so far was to the Headhunters, and they are favorites to distance the Fire further from the top. Wins against very good teams prove that they belong in the top, and this could be another big step towards a home field play-off game. AF had a ggood 4-0 start to the season, but their performance against the projected top teams so far has not been convincing, and has resulted in 2/2 losses so far. Especially last weeks 2-80 loss is still engraved in the fan's memory, and anything less than a superb showing today could see a regular outrage occur. This is a key game if they want to keep the dream of top-45 alive, so everything will have to be perfect. Should be a good watch imo
BoB wins 52-39

Kilimanjaro Kamikaze at Warriors of Anubis
The Kamikaze have neither impressed or disappointed so far. Some big wins against lesser opponents, but also some big losses to the top teams, have left behind a balanced start to their AA life as their 3-3 record also displays. They have lost both previous losses against fellow promoters so far, and has to be underdogs today. WoA are 2-4, but dont let that fool you. They started with one of the toughest schedules of all, and the 4 losses might very well end up being to the top-4 teams in Lion, and the #12 spot they currently hold doesnt give a correct picture of their ability's. Last week was especially impressive, with a OT loss against a very strong and stacked Cape Verde team. If they can put up a similar performance this week, Kilimanjaro wont get a feet to stand on. If not, this could be another close game, not decided until the very end.
WoA shows another strong performance, winning 58-38

Scottish Sharks at Rhein Main Magic Mushrooms
Two teams that looks to be struggling in their efforts to secure a play-off spot. The Sharks have been blown out by anything resembling a top team, and the Mushrooms seems to get high on their own stash too much, leaving much to be desired. Sharks should win this one, and get a little confidence boost before the next tough opponent, Cape Verde.
Sharks win 48-3

Malagasy Bushmen at White Nile Piranha
White Nile looked to have gotten back on track with 2 wins in a row, but then got slaughtered against Freetown last week. This a tough team to predict, as their performance seem to be very inconsistent. They are slight favorites here, but it doesnt have to be close if they just find their good play again. Malagasy have blamed their 1-5 record on the fact that their only sparring partners are Lemurs. If this is true, no one knows, and i for one aint sticking around to find out.
Piranhas chew up the Bushmen, winning this one 42-27

Elephant:
The Elephant conference seems pretty much broken in half, with 8 teams sure of play-offs already. It should just be a matter of deciding the placements within the #1 - #8, unless something weird happens.
This fact makes it pretty hard to make exciting predictions tbh, but I'll try and write something up for all but the most silly match ups

Cairo Cannibals at Richmond RaidersGAME OF THE WEEK
This game pretty much saves this week for the Elephant conference as far as excitement goes. Even tho Richmond has to be favorites, the Cannibals are a tough team, and wont go down easy. 2 promoters facing off in a regular top game is a nice event, and shows the overall competitiveness of the league. Richmond are 6-0, and have rolled over all opponents so far in a convincing showing. It doesnt come as a surprise that a CPL team is competitive in an Africa AA league, but what they have showed so far is impressive even this taken into account. Cairo have had some very convincing wins against tough opponents, but have also lost a few games, the latest in week 5 against EEORG, who seems to be moving up finally. Nothing is decided here, and the day from of the teams will have much to say, and it could come down to a few key plays.
Pick 'Em

Casablanca White Houses at Real Men of Genius
Not much to say here. RMoG looks to be a new DD(in the positive ways ), and have shown remarkable strength their lvl's taken into consideration. When they boost for the play-offs, its not sure anyone can stand against them. It is still early in the season tho, but their performance so far have been simply impressive. Casablanca doesnt look like a Play-Off team this year, and doesnt look able to even annoy the big boys.
RMoG by 76-7

Cairo Crocodiles at Zanzibar Leopards
This should have been a good game, but with the sale of the Leopards are now nothing more than a small bump in the road for Cairo. Cairo have been looking strong, but got ducked by RMoG last week. Even with RMoG's strength, this was a disappointment to the fans, and they might be the only ones not grieving the loss of a competitive Zanzibar team.
Cairo wins by some pts

Cape Town Shinobis at Dakar Dragons
Dakar are looking strong, while Cape Town is as close to a cupcake team as you can be without being completely gutted. Anything but a big Dakar win here would be an upset of the big kind, as they have shown to be up to par with the best competition in the conference so far. A good game to warm up for the EEORG game awaiting them next week.
Dakar wins 65-17

Rwanda Assassins at Zimbabwe Black Rhinos
Rwanda could put their SS at QB and still win this one, that is how bad a team Zimbabwe is. Their remaining 4 fans have launched a series of protest demonstrations, but to little effect. Last week saw a good win against Casablanca, but they will have to do better than that to change their image in the league. Assassins are looking to be one of the teams fighting for a top-4 spot, and a loss here would be a disaster.
Assassins win 87-3

EEORG Bastards at Sierra Leone Head Shrinkers
The Bastards are getting things going after their less than admirable opening to the season, and can take another step towards the #1 spot they claimed to have in the bag prior to game 1. A win against the Cairo Cannibals and a 2 pt loss against Richmond leaves behind little doubt about the power of this squad, and they will be interesting to follow this year. SL are rebuilding, but wont be able to play with the big boys this year.
EEORG wins 87-0

Lake M'Zumba Cannibals at Serengeti Wildebeest
The Cannibals from the lake looked to be one of the hottest teams this year with their week 2 win against EEORG, but has come down to earth some after 3 losses to promoters in their last 4 games. The Wildebeest shouldn't be a challenge tho, and they have this game and the next to get things sorted out before their big game against RMoG in week 9.
Lake wins this one 65-0

Swaziland Semnikati at Trinidad TrojansLOLGAME OF THE WEEK
The Trojans seem to have forgotten to make an exit in their wooden horse, silly Trojans. This should be a 200+ win for my old friends at Swaziland, and will take them a step closer to get a positive record.
Many pts - 0

Good stuff and thanks for taking the time to do the write ups.

It is a bummer about Zanzibar. We had a great game with them last season where we scored a FG to take the lead with 30 seconds left and they threw a bomb 2 plays later for the win. We were looking to achieve some revenge.

Yea, it just made Elephant even more top heavy. I cant really see anyone but the top 8, if you exchange Leopards with EEORG, having much of a chance to get into the play-offs

At least the top 8 teams are all very good teams, so will still be much excitement about the placements i think. But still..

I think you just figured out one of the reasons we left.

Banana Skin Match-Up of the Week (Lion Conference)

Port Harcourt Playmakers at Cape Verde Headhunters:

Like WoA, the promoted Playmakers went through a hellish 3-game stretch against RSW, the Black & Whites and BoB ... But performed really admirably. A brief respite came with their last game win against a Rhen Main outfit still 'tripping' over themselves, but now they travel to another colossus - Cape Verde.
For the Headhunters, Akira Sendoh finally looks fully healed nursing a sore heel that has kept him from displaying that mad speed he showed last year. Not a good sign for anybody else. Hawk "Did I just hit you?" Davis is a beast, and his insatiable appetite will force Port Harcourt to pay him extra attention in their game plan.
This should be a fantastic contest for all the senses. The Playmakers will compete, but sheer will and pure strength pulls through for Cape who look to remain unbeaten until their final game when they face Red Sea.
Cape wins it 37-24

Minaras ... Great GREAT write-up
