The first victory of the year is always a great time for any team, especially a young and raw team in the Gulf State Demons. The Demons showed off the recently aquired talent from the past two days, as Speeed Racer rushed 27 times for 96.5 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the way for a 27-7 victory.
Although the Demons defense allowed Memphis to score its first points of the year in the 3rd quarter, they did a great job at making sure it would be the only points they scored. The defense didnt record a sack, but pressed the quarterback enough to rush throws, including one that was picked off by Yougot Pwned-another new addition to the team. Pwned had this to say about playing in his first game yesterday, "It was good to get this first game under my belt I had alot of butterflies in the first quarter, but I settled down in the 2nd and was in my zone by then. I was lucky to picked that pass off in the 3rd, I almost dropped it but I said no way I was going to drop my first chance at an Int."
Quarterback Kristian Klausen had a solid game under center going 12/18 for 87 yards and 0 TDs & 0 Ints. Unlike the last two games, where the Demons have relied on Klausen making throws, another new member allowed the pressure to be taken off of Klausen. Speeed Racer was a beast on the field, and has shown he can be the offensive leader of this team. Racer had this to say, "Hey man, I had fun out there today I did what I had to do to lead this team to victory. Sure a couple of runs I couldve done something different to gain a little more yardage, but a wins a win and Ill take it."
With this win the Gulf State Demons move to 9th place in the USA BBB #15 Eastern Confernce Standings, while the Memphis Showboats stay in 16th place.
