It's early in the season with the all the team re-alignments, but here goes a Swift prediction for game 2. I'm not as eloquent as Syed, but this gives us something to argue about!
number in () is pre-season rank from Syed (http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1358034), but that was prior to many roster moves
Devonport Devils (3) vs Redcliffe Sharks (4)
-----------------------------------------------------------
It's likely to be a war. Both are coming off of wins. If we hear Run Forest Run all day, then it will be a long day for the Devils. The Devils offense seems to be clicking early, and if that continues, then the Sharks may be getting beached in Devonport. Devils by 7, 27 - 20.
Olden Swillers (6) vs Wellington Assassins (11)
-----------------------------------------------------------
This one could go either way. Both are coming off of wins last game also. If Wellington can get the pass off quickly, they could hurt the Swillers... but I think the Olden D-line plans to play the role of assassins themselves... and their target: Matt Roseman. If Olden gets 5 or more sacks, they win this game. Olden by 10, 24 - 14.
Newcastle Dream (9) vs Sydney Sea Wasps (7)
-----------------------------------------------------------
We have another battle in the making. Again, both teams are coming off of wins. Sydney pulled an upset their first game against the Nottingham Hoods, while the Dream had a romp and dropped the Bundaberg Drop Bears. Not knowing much about either of these teams yet, it was hard to judge this one, but I was impressed with the Sea Wasps sound beating of the Hoods, so I am going with Sydney by 14, 31 - 17.
DECATUR STALEYS (5) vs Perth Pirates (2)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Yet another battle of highly ranked teams. Perth is considered to be one of the strengths of the returning AA#4 teams, while DECATUR is the tops of the new teams. The STALEYS are 1-0 after whoppin' up on the Chaos. The Pirates are 0-1 after getting brutalized by the GERMAN WILDDOGS. I think this will be a very close battle and could go either way. I think the new guys have a chip on their shoulder and may pull out the upset. DECATUR by 3, 24-21.
Newcastle Mountain Lions (1) vs Chippewa Predators (16)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Ok, after a bunch of good games, here is a dud. The tops of the conference vs the bottom. It might be harder for Newcastle to push practice sleds than to push the Predators lines. No real prediction other than a complete slaughter. Newcastle Mountain Lions by 200+, 224-0.
Apia Evil (8) vs Alaska Wild (14)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Two teams that both lost their first game, but one of them will get their first win this week. That will be the Evil. They have been here before and just completely outmatch the Wild. Apia by 50, 56-6.
Saipan Stingrays (13) vs Hamilton Falcons (10)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Hamilton won their first game and Saipan lost theirs. Both teams will continue their streaks as this is a lop-sided game. The Falcons will have no problem flying passed the Stingrays without getting stung. Hamilton by 75, 78-3.
DHARMA Initiative (15) vs Intergalactic Sub-Mariners (12)
-----------------------------------------------------------
The Sub-Mariners will get an easy blow-out in this game to even up their record at 1-1. DHARMA won't show much initiative to win a game, so they will fall to 0-2. Intergalactic by 130+, maybe 145-6.
Well, that's it for this games Swift predictions. Have at 'em!
