With a new season approaching in Africa AA#1, teams are gearing up for what looks to be a talent packed league. Teams have acquired new players and personnel to try and establish their organization as worthy to move up to AAA. In order to find out what teams are for real and which aren't, a series of power rankings will be published. These power rankings will be updated at least every 4 weeks and possibly more updates could come depending on how the composition of the league changes.

The rankings are determined by a formula derived by myself. Each team receives a number that is between 0 and 1. The closer you are to 1 the better you are and the closer to 0 the worse. The formula takes into account the strength of your roster as well as your win percentage. Right now it is a very simple composition however through the weeks I could be adding more complex variables to make the formula better. This is by no means a perfect formula, just something I think will reflect each team in some quantitative ranking form.

Without further ado here are the preseason power rankings:

Lion Conference
1. Red Sea Wave 0.93
2. Band of Brothers 0.822
3. Cape Verde Headhunters 0.817

13. Port Harcourt Playmakers 0.722
14. Burundi Hutu 0.698
15. Kilimanjaro Kamikaze 0.687
16. White Nile Piranha 0.655

Some interesting rankings indeed! Very tough to put them together, especially with the league turnover and the new stuff being put in. Thanks for taking the time and we shall see how things shake out.

Thanks!

Once games get underway you should start to see the power rankings become more accurate.

Awesome m8, thx for taking the time for this. I have been fortunate enough to have someone make power rankings in all the leagues i have been active in, and it always a nice addition to the forums.

Always fun with a spread you can try and beat

Nice Rankings. Although I'm curious, how did Red Sea get a 93 in your rankings? Thats a big jump from everyone else

cool, thanks for putting it together man. It's interesting to see how all of us Africa A Teams rank at the onset of the season.

Can't wait to get the games going.

I can answer that one. We played them in a scrimmage game and they are absolutely loaded. Lot of mid 30's to upper 30's on that team and the MLB is a 40. Someone looking at their roster can't help but be impressed. They should have a very solid season.

...yea but you guys rocked them 55-23...I know its just preseason, but still. Its true, their roster is pretty stacked with high level guys. Lets just hope they have bad builds!

LMAO, RMoG is 11th in Elephant. Perhaps you missed the memo we are almost the greatest capped league team ever assembled.

I used last season as a rebuild and brought in a lot of top level guys (No easy task) Some have great builds, some okay, and some not great. We kinda faded at the end of last season. I just brought in a new Defensive Coordinator who has experience and will hopefully get our Defense back on track.

I would say almost half our team has boosted already if it is any relief to the other teams
