Kristian Klausen and Junior Dredd came out of the Gulf State practice facility this afternoon laughing and chuckling among themselves. The coaches and players practicing on the field looked at both star players and wondered what mischief they had gotten themselves into. Then new acquisition RB Speeed Racer came running out and yelled "There's a snake in my football pants!" Dredd then came back with, "Man coaches were right! You are fast! I hope youre as fast on the field as you are running away like a little girl!"
Although the Demons seemed loose in todays practice, especially with the way the players welcomed Racer, the coaches were trying to avoid being too loose. Head Coach sgtjayb said, "Look we arent exactly playing the New England Patriots tomorrow, more like the New England Pee Wee team. No offense to the [Memphis] Showboats, but they arent exactly showboating in their games so far." HC sgtjayb is exactly right, the Showboats have allowed 124 points in two games, and have scored 0 points...yes ZERO points.
I talked with kicker Taylor Cook during Special Team drills and hes looking forward to boosting his kicking stats in the next game. He told me, "Man when teams are averaging 62 PPG on the Showboats, there are plenty of ways for me to hit some field goals. I dont mind kicking 20 extra points, but if coach were to let me attempt a 55+ yarder I'd be stoked."
Well if all goes well tomorrow Cook might even get snaps at quarterback, because this one should be over at halftime. I'll take the Demons 59-3 for their first win of the season.
