Down by 10 points with 9 minutes to go, the Chicago Bullets pull out all the stops and steal victory from the jaws of defeat in a hard fought battle with the Gulf State Demons. The Demons who led by 10 going into the 4th quarter had dominated the Bullets, allowing only 1 touchdown in 3 quarters, but then the lack of depth and questionable coaching led to a Chicago comeback.
After a touchdown by Gulf State, the Chicago offense went to work with a 2:36 touchdown drive cutting the deficit to 3. After 2 Ints by CB Joel Knight, the Chicago offense scored the game winning TD with 1:40 left which left the Gulf State crowd in shock. Gulf State did not give up though, driving down the field and setting up a 4th & 2 on the Chicago 9, but Triston Wagner, the Gulf State 3rd string QB's pass to Rock Johnson was defended well by Chicago and the rally was cut off.
Although the box score gives the Demons a "L", in many ways this was a win, for a rookie-dominant team. QB Klausen had a monster game going 20/27 with 255 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. We all know about WR Alan Thompson (who had 2 catches for 17.5 yards), but another wide receiver stole the show today. Money Jackson, one of few veterans on this team, had 8 catches for 145.5 yards and 2 touchdowns. Head Coach sgtjayb had this to say about the teams performance, "Man even though we got a loss, its a big step in the right direction for us. Klausen showed a flash of what we except to see from him in the future, and Money was money for us today. We'll just have to go practice some more and try to sign more players to give us some depth in the 4th quarter."
Although the defense didnt put up many individual stats, their work as a unit kept Chicagos offense at bay for 3.5 quarters, which is a big improvement over Game 1. Although the defense didnt get any sacks, FS Jay Thompson recorded an Int.
The Demons have started 0-2 at home, but dont face a big first test on the road against the Memphis Showboats who have scored 0 points in 2 games, and allowed 124.
With the win the Chicago Bullets move to 2nd place in the USA BBB #15 Eastern Conference standings. Although Gulf State lost, they move up from 14th to 11th place.
Next game for Chicago Bullets: Vice City Mambas (1-1-0)
Next game for Gulf State Demons: @Memphis Showboats (0-2-0)
