Get strength and block to the first caps, no matter what your plan is. If you're going to be in the d-league for a while, I'd recommend switching equipment to stamina. After that, you'll probably want to start working agility and train (don't put in points, train) speed.
cap str, cap block, 2nd cap str, 2nd cap block and then move on to other attributes or even 3rd cap str would be my suggestion.
Ofcourse I only have 2 lvl 12 guards, but it's what I'm doing and have been told is effective. because of the high bonus to str and block untill lvl 22 you need to get those capped as quick as possible.
