Key Week 15 Matchups ----- Predictions: 2-1 ----- Score Differential: +2 ----- (-21) + (32) + (-9)

#1 - Gods vs. 'Nites (The Nites have dropped two in a row now, but I can't expect this trend to continue. I think it will be a tight game and this is the best chance the Gods have for an upset.)

BOLD PREDICTION: Nites 24, Gods 10

ACTUAL RESULT: Nites 24, Gods 31 (Honestly, this isn't the first time I've chosen the Nites to win and basically nailed their score, but their opponent blows the result out of the water...maybe I should stop predicting them to win?)

-----

#2 - Crimson Auha vs. Titans (The Titans are riding high after a big upset over the Nites, but the Crimson Auha really need a win here as they lose the tiebreaker to Fiji.)

BOLD PREDICTION: Titans 37, Crimson Auha 34

ACTUAL RESULT: Titans 45, Crimson Auha 10 (RTT is on cruise control with a whooping of the Tongan crew.)

-----

#3 - Growas vs. Heat (The Heat are scoring the most and allowing the least in Zeta. The Growas are playing better and fighting for their playoff lives, but its too little, too late)

BOLD PREDICTION: Heat 56, Growas 16

ACTUAL RESULT: Heat 51, Growas 20 (Well, at least I got one score pretty much right )

-----

Toughest Remaining Schedules

Brisbane Gods (14-1)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 TIT's

Melbourne Thorny Devils (13-2)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Invaders

Big Island Growas (10-5)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Mustangs

Tongan Crimson Auha (10-5)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Burning Pride

Fiji Stingers (9-6)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Fighting Squirrels

Vanuatu Kava Sharks (8-7)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Sea Turtles

Easiest Remaining Schedules

Brisbane Heat (0-15)
- Key Matchups: None

Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (3-12)
- Key Matchups: None

Rawle Tech Titans (6-9)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Strike

IC Incinerators (7-8)
- Key Matchups: Week 16 Pioneers

Eliminated
- Big Island Growas (Heat win officially ends their slim hopes in week 15)
- Co-op City Blitz (loss in week 14 officially sends them to the links)
- Nauru Tiger Sharks (loss in week 13 officially sends them down the pipe)
- Saipan Fighters (1-5 vs. the teams they can catch with a 4-0 finish. With only 1 meaningful conference game left, they can't even play the role of spoiler this season)
- Jakarta Men O'War (Can't catch any current playoff teams, looking to next season)
- Cleveland Dawg Pound (Can't catch any current playoff teams, looking to next season)
- Great Barrier Reef Sharks (Relegation pending to AAA)

Key Week 16 Matchups

#1 - Stingers vs. Fighting Squirrels (While there are some matches that could affect position (discussed below), the only two matchups I'm listing affect who will get the final seed for Zeta. The Stingers have their hands full with Wagga Wagga)

BOLD PREDICTION: Fighting Squirrels 30, Stingers 24

#2 - Crimson Auha vs. Burning Pride (The other match that will decide Zeta's 8th seed should be another good one. The Crimson Auha have their hands full with New Zealand, and I'm actually happy both teams have a tough match and noone is getting a "bye".)

BOLD PREDICTION: Burning Pride 41, Crimson Auha 23

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOLDER PREDICTION:

Zeta Conference Final Regular Season Standings

1. *Brisbane Heat (15-1)
2. *Vanuatu Kava Sharks (15-1)
3. *IC Incinerators (13-3)
4. *Banzai Pipeline 'Nites (12-4)
5. *Brisbane Gods (11-5)
6. *Rawle Tech Titans (11-5)
7. *Melbourne Thorny Devils (10-6)
8. Fiji Stingers (8-8)
----
9. Tongan Crimson Auha (8-8)
10. Big Island Growas (6-10)
11. Saipan Fighters (6-10)
12. Co-op City Blitz (5-11)
13. Nauru Tiger Sharks (3-13)
14. Jakarta Men O' War (3-13)
15. Cleveland Dawg Pound (1-15)
16. Great Barrier Reef Sharks (0-16)

*clinched playoff spot
Eliminated

What teams need to get in

Fiji Stingers - A win over Wagga Wagga, and Fiji is in without worry due to the tiebreaker over the Crimson Auha. A loss, and they have to hope New Zealand takes out the Tongan men.

Tongan Crimson Auha - Its simple: Win. Anything less, and these guys are on the outside looking in. The sad thing is, even a win doesn't guarantee anything due to a loss to Fiji earlier in the season. Only a win + Fiji loss gets these guys to the big postseason show.

Position battles to watch

1st place: Brisbane drew the 0-15 Warriors. 1st place is all but assured.

2nd place: Regardless of the outcome, the Kava Sharks have locked up 2nd place.

3rd place: Regardless of the outcome, the Incinerators have locked up 3rd place.

4th place: If the Gods win, 4th place is theirs. If they lose, it goes to the Nites who should have no issue beating Perth.

5th place: If the Gods and Nites win, 5th place goes to the Nites. If the Gods lose, the take 5th place. Regardless, this is a 1st round matchup for Zeta.

6th place: If Melbourne can upset the Invaders, 6th place is theirs along with a matchup vs. the Incinerators. If they lose and Rawle Tech wins, the Titans get 6th place and the aforementioned matchup. If both teams lose, Melbourne gets 6th place.

7th place: As mentioned above, this will go to either Melbourne or Rawle Tech. Not taking matchups into account, Rawle Tech has a 67% chance to finish here and Melbourne has a 33% chance. Yes, there is always the possibility of a tie, but I'm not doing that math tonight!

8th place: As mentioned in the key matchups, a Fiji win or a Tongan loss and the Stingers make the playoffs. A Fiji loss and a Tongan win, and the Crimson Auha sneak into the last spot.

Projected 1st Round Matchups

Brisbane Heat hosting Fiji Stingers
Banzai Pipeline 'Nites hosting Brisbane Gods
IC Incinerators hosting Rawle Tech Titans
Vanuatu Kava Sharks hosting Melbourne Thorny Devils

Alpha Conference

Key Week 15 Matchups ----- Predictions: 3-1 ----- Score Differential: 86 ----- (-12) + (10) + (59) + (29)

#1 - Pioneers vs. Bandits (Now sitting on the outside looking in, despite a solid defensive performance in Week 14, the Pioneers need a win, and it comes this week over the Bandits, ending their playoff dreams.)

BOLD PREDICTION: Pioneers 28, Bandits 24

ACTUAL RESULT: Pioneers 14, Bandits 26 (Had the Bandits pegged, but expected more out of Grinnell. Great job by Brisbane to pull this one out!)

-----

#2 - Strike vs. Burning Pride (Still with an outside shot to earn an Alpha playoff berth, the Burning Pride hand the Strike their second straight loss and eliminate them from playoff competition.)

BOLD PREDICTION: Burning Pride 31, Strike 20

ACTUAL RESULT: Burning Pride 24, Strike 3 (Sounds like a little bit of shenanigans might have been going on...and we all know I'll be pistol whipping the next guy who says Shenanigans...what was the name of that restaurant you like? In all seriousness, New Zealand played a great game this week on D.)

-----

#3 - TiT's vs. Mustangs (The TiT's are looking to secure the second seed while the Mustangs would love to earn a home game. Should be a well fought match)

BOLD PREDICTION: TiT's 34, Mustangs 27

ACTUAL RESULT: TiT's 69, Mustangs 3 (Not only are the TiT's as perky as ever, they scored some 69 this week.)

-----

#4 - Invaders vs. Fighting Squirrels (The Invaders are getting ready for the playoffs while Wagga Wagga is looking to secure their berth with a win. West Scranton will take this one home though.)

BOLD PREDICTION: Invaders 38, Fighting Squirrels 18

ACTUAL RESULT: Invaders 62, Fighting Squirrels 13 (What else can I say but...ouch. West Scranton was flying high after their win vs. the Chicago Mustangs and rolled through Wagga Wagga.)

-----

Toughest Remaining Schedules

What teams need to get in

Based on how week 15 turned out, the playoffs in Alpha are set, other than some possible jockeying for position.

Position battles to watch

1st place: Machine have it locked up with an easy crossover match.

2nd place: TiT's have it locked up even with a loss.

3rd place: Invaders have it locked up.

4th place: Tide have it locked up with wins over Brantford & New Zealand.

5th place: Burning Pride win or Mustangs loss and New Zealand meets the Tide in round 1. A Burning Pride loss with a Mustangs win will put Brantford in 5th.

6th place: This will go to either New Zealand or Brantford, pending their matchups, even if they both lose and Wagga Wagga wins, due to H2H matchups.

7th place: Wagga Wagga has 7th locked up.

8th place: Fiji has 8th locked up.

Projected 1st Round Matchups

Mean Machine hosting Fiji Sea Turtles
East Coast Tide hosting New Zealand Burning Pride
West Scranton Invaders hosting Brantford Mustangs
Tonga Ikale Tahi hosting Wagga Wagga Fighting Squirrels

I would like to see the non-division game moved to not be the last game of the season. It would be much more exciting if some of the last spot playoff battles had a chance of playing each other.

EDIT: Another great write-up.

Thanks -- I've always felt that the first game of the season should be the OOC game.

Haha, I hope those playoff matchup predictions are correct too. As tough of a game as it will be, I still want that final chance to beat you guys... it would be a classic battle for sure IMO.

Edit: Thanks to SCACE for taking the time for doing these writeups, I know I am not the only one that looks forward to them.

Yeah, and you guys are the only team left from S1 that we haven't beat yet (didn't beat the Cans or Vegas either but they are gone already).
You have a target on your backs, I just hope we can hit the mark.

Well you did beat a couple guys from the CANS this year, so that should help make you feel better.....LOL

Now if we can just make it all the way and beat Guy Dixon's team (Mean Machine via Las Vegas), we can get the monkey off our backs.

Thanks for doing. Dam Mustangs every again. Even though they had some tough missteps lately, always a tough match up IMO.

I would obviously prefer it be in the second round, but I'll take the game wherever it falls.
