I'm going to have to make this decision in the future, so I was wondering what the general opinion is for a guard.

Option A - Agility 62, Vision 20
Option B - Agility 48, Vision 48

Or, some sort of intermediate:

Option C - Agility 55, Vision 36

Note the same amount of SP has been spent in each. Finally - I assume this varies depending on LG or RG, so please give an option for each side.

I like the well roundedness of C, but then I am developing a new agility balanced DT.

Well the main issue is training. Why not do agility then vision? Train vision while getting agility up. I'm a huge proponent of not wasting your training options too early.

Is there a letter between B and C? If not, can we invent one? Because that's the one I want to pick.

this only works if either A) you don't mind losing bonus tokens or B) you want to train confidence too. The intense combinations with vision are very limited for oline.

I agree that with the training issue, option A would look like Agility:62, Vision 25. I am trying not to waste the training points also. I currently have vision at 34 and agility at 48, so for me the training gains to vision (in terms of SP) are roughly the same as for agility, and I now have to seriously consider whether I want to start putting any SP into vision.

My build is open if anyone wants to make this specific to my player. http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=87819. I have Str/Blk at 70/69, and have recently capped Confidence and Agility. I am currently training vision/confidence and will do so for the rest of this season. I plan to train speed/agility for the whole of the next season.

In the off-season, with my 3 boosts I can do:

1) Softcap vision

2) Put all into Agility, although I might want train this for a season first to take advantage of the reasonable training gains at the 48 value.

3) Keep raising Str/Blk - although I feel at the 4:1 ratio it might be time to leave these alone.

4) Start to really build up my SAs. I have a piece of custom equipment which will be ready a few days into next season with +5 Str/Blk +2 Pass Block SA, so I might want to raise my base value of Pass Block, and I'm sure that raising my base value of Run Block will be beneficial too.

5) Slam all points into Confidence???

I'm leaning towards number 1. But am still wondering if this is really necessary, or if I will regret the wasted 15 SP in the following seasons. If not, I think I might do number 4, and wait one season more before doing number 2.

Also I might use 4 of the points in blk, to equalise str/blk at 70/70 and satisfy my OCD.

Edit: Oh I'm planning to build him for LG, not RG.

DO what you gotta do. I don't think you need all that vision, but if you find out you do or someone tells you it's important by all means do it. I have a center who played right guard all year up until just now when the center's contract ran out and they switched me to center. He pulled just fine with the stats he has. and a left guard wouldn't have to do it as much if at all. might wanna get the speed up just a tad as well.

I would say get the s.a's up, mainly get low and foundation.

Thanks. The SAs I finally plan to concentrate on are Pass Block, Foundation, Run Block, Get Low and Cut Block.

I can't believe I wasted so many SPs into pancake when I was younger - how embarrassing! I estimate I wasted 40-50 SPs in my early years so am far from perfection

I would personally vote for 2 and 4. I'd spend next season training agi/vis while spending current boost sp on SAs. Then next season I'd try to get agi up to 60.
dunno

Is it a left or right guard? Since right has to pick up blitzes more often, vision is more important over there.

Oh no doubt! I wish I could take back the wasted points i put in pancakes on my very first player. MY center. But he is fixable so I won't retire him. I built 4 more linemen based off what I have learned so They are going to be perfect

I would say if you were a tackle to double cap agility. but imo gaurds don't need as much. I think you would be wasting sp's

Thanks for all the replies, I think now is the time for me then to build up the SAs (option 4), and I will postpone my decision about my vision/agility dilemma for one more season.

Yes - I have just had a look at your lvl 10 and 9 guards and they will be true monsters when they are at higher levels!
