If one were to make a squad of 10 players devoted solely to Special Teams (coverage/returns), what would be good builds?

In particular, how important is Vision to special teams effectiveness? Obviously Speed/Agility are a primary concern, and some Tackle/Blocking, and supporting Strength.

Any thoughts on what makes a great Special Teams player?

KOS, you'd want strength/tackling. KRS, you'd want strength/blocking.

speed, agility, blocking, tackling (forget strength, what good does a pancake do? you won't outrun the returner and the guy knocked down will get back up and make the tackle)

I don't think vision is all that important (30 or so) as blockers need to see which guy to block, but you don't want him to let one guy go to block a deeper "threat" downfield.

I'd have speed/agility as high as possible, blocking around 48, tackling around 30.

Also, if you're going to build your own 10 players:

CB-SS-TE-TE-TE-SS-CB

LB-FB-LB

Good balance of speed and strength. I'm not a big fan of having O-Line as your middle blockers.

Awesome assessment, thanks!

I'd say create Centers, it's less flex points and they get the best roll on strength and blocking.

I have a DT who's a back up on a team so he also plays special teams, he has more pancakes just from KRS than half of the O-line do.

Yep, just get a load of guys with high speed/block/tackle/agility and you will have a sick spec team.

Those sound like OTs. They get .4 or .5 of those EVERY level.

for KOS. I'd build either 10 SSs or 10 DEs. That way you can evntually get Shed Block/First Step or Super Vision/Closing Speed

For the sake of creating 10 special teamers, I wouldnt consider creating anything other than 100fp positions.

EDIT: fucking quote fails lol

I wouldn't even spend 100 FP per player making special teamers. I still think that a team of DEs or SSs would be the best KOS team you could make.

Make two gunners with nothing but speed str and tackling. And set to force fumbles

Speed and agility are everything in special teams, even block and tackle come in second or third. Get a player close to the returner, he slows him down enough for the swarm to arrive, and someone will get the Tackle.

I will say "Defensive" pancakes came from speed not strength that I saw. and not
only can you run down a reciever you could be there to catch the punt.

Build all OTs. They get .4 Blocking, Strength, Agility, Vision and Confidence per level along with .5 Tackling and Stamina. They're perfect to play both sides on Special Teams. Start out by maxing SPD and AGI, then work Blocking and Tackling up together, focusing more on Blocking. Basically, try to get Tackling up to 35 by the time Blocking reaches the softcap. Then cap Vision. Voila.
