After reading Bort's announcement on the reshuffling at the end of the season, does anyone have any thoughts on how many African Pro Teams are going to come down to us and how many of our league's teams will be relegated?

I count at least 4 teams in African Pro that are overmatched.

Any thoughts?

Ive heard rumors that there are 3 Lion teams in AP that are thinking about folding, though some of those are ones that are getting religated anywase. Im not sure what the parameters are for "over matched" but if your losing by 100+ each games I think that should qualify you. All in all I think each AP conference will have 4-5 new teams, however 4 of those will be occupied by the conference champions and the remaining 4 or 5 slots will be divided amoungst AAA#1 and AAA#2. So realistically your only looking at 3 or 4 teams from each league total... or 1 additional team per conference.

Plus apparently Bort has said that teams will pull from two tiers down (so AAA and AA for Pro leagues). That will really fuck things up, I dont know why he is doing it this way... http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=1235641&page=1

Gutting and what it does to leagues is a really tough problem to deal with. I think 3 things could help a lot though.

.Offer long term deals for extending team ownership. There's no discount last I looked. This will encourage guys like victoruno to save some cash and pay for the team for several months, rather than checkin' the couch for change every month.

.Actually punish gutters. I've seen people trash gutting then do it themselves and join their friends team like nothing happened. Haven't heard of one person punished for gutting. Butter knife castration is harsh, how about suspending or banning?

.If a team auto-expires don't make it CPU. For a few days or so let the GM's run all tactic related stuff, freeze cutting/trading, and let someone buy the team. Someone might actually want it then. Look at WV...who would want that? And plus, I mean, it's in West Virginia. C'mon.

Here is what I feel... Gutting is going to happen. I think at the end of the season, the team should be removed and put to the bottom of Africa and promoting a team up a division.

If I ever have to give up my team and one of my GMs don't want it... I'd definitely sign everyone to new deals ending when I let the team go. The players are on my team to play for me, or is friends with our GMs and a couple are my friends outside the GLB... who knows who would get the team next?!?!?!?! If its a bad owner, then they are stuck. And why should a new owner reek the benefits of my recruiting, negotiating and player relationships. I mean, they will already get a pretty well built stadium, they should at least have to go find their own players like I did.

But have no fear... Rhinos will be here till the GLB shuts down...

LOL... I get bummed out when I see teams dropping out... The Believers, last year, were making a come back and looked to be making moves and the next thing you know, they are gutted... it was a bummer.

If you make it to the Conference championship game this season I'd put a dollar on getting promoted even if you lose.

I don't know if this is already a rule or not but.....if you gut a team or you let it fold, that owner should NEVER be allowed to have a team ever again...PERIOD

Sounds reasonable... but It'd have to be under what circumstance I think... there's a difference in owning a team, letting it go under, and then trying to own another one when you suck as an owner, and a great owner that had to let go of his team because of time constraints and then frees up more time at work, or things calm down and he feels like he is ready to own another one again. You know? But in general I'd agree with that statement. I pointed out the few and far between circumstances.

I just know if owners (of teams that I am on) are going to let go of the team and a GM doesn't want it... I'd asked to be released or have an expiring contract. I signed up to play for that owner... not some random 13-16 year old that only intends to have a team 1 season and does whatever with players and game planning... I mean, it happens, A LOT! I wouldn't want to be in that situation as a players owner, so why would I do that for the guys I have signed?

I'm to loyal to my team to let that happen... we are a pretty tight group of guys.

Teams like yours are very rare. I have the luxury also in having a great group of guys..and one of the best GM groups around. I've been on many teams and I've leaned from those experiences. You don't see too many teams with players signed for 2-3 years..I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I wouldn't trade my players or GM's for anything.

Yea, I have seen both sides of that coin. I really look hard at the owners/GM's before I join a team now with any of my players. It's really hard to be on a team that has no owner/gm participation, or worse yet and owner/gm who isn't looking out for the team.

My original core of guys (skeeterdefense, jdsaint, chief31, stixman, gobosox514 etc...) were all on a team with me in season one... and when it ended in season 3, I just happened to get this team and Chief31 got a team and our teammates just came with us! Its been great... having guys from the outside come in and trust us and buy into what we are doing has been the hard part... but the ones that have signed up all wanted to resign!

But I'm glad there are teams like yours out there TUC... makes the GLB that much more fun!
