Wow, I never thought that being team owner would be as hard as what it has been. I know we have definetly dropped off as far as ranking in the conference goes. Many of our players are inactive so it's hard to get them to level up. Thankfully a handful have been active on the forum with me.

With that being said in a day or two I am going to make the decisions as to whether or not gut the team of all the inactives, and let the active ones get the XP or just wait until the end of the seaon.

Also any owners out there have any pointers on how to deal with free agents and what not? As I have had very little luck with it so far.

Hard to get FA right now (this time of the year).

Offer 1 year no trade deals with max bonuses and high salaries. it is worth it if in the long run you get a quality guy to bond with your team. For example, all of the current Knights have re-signed for another year so I don;t have to do any free agency for season 6. So eventually your hard work will pay off

Also browse the trade block for fire sale players to pick up some possible talent

Basically invite them to your forums so they can see what you are all about is a good place to go unless your forums are a wasteland.

I'll be honest, I was the OC for a team three or four seasons ago. The team had been a playoff team the previous season, but the owner left and pulled all his players. I tried for 2 seasons to get players on the team, and really had a miserable time of it.

One thing to consider is to lower your level requirements. There are some very good builds out there that are a bit lower in level.

It is tough though.

Well it looks as though I may have our DC problem fixed. Still interviewing but it looks very promising.

I was actually part of that team for the playoff Run. It really hurt when the owner bailed out mid season and I'm glad you gave my OT a release a bit sooner than his deal was up LOL

It is really hard to sign players now. Alot of them see the "A" and think most teams here suck. Some people just like to see that "AAA" or "Pro" besides the team name. Your best bet is to go for lower levels and keep an eye on the Trade Block too.

As an owner of a team I find it amazing what some of the market place folks ask
for salaries/bonuses. Amazing because some of the builds are pathetic or they don't
even want to show you there stats. I had one guy as a level 14 asking for more than
$50,000 bonus and better than $140,000 contract and his claim to fame was he was worth
it because he lead his team in the D-leagues in tackles. I was laughing so hard...

Recruiting basically sucks. Sorry to disappoint, but it's truly a grind. Latching onto teams that are gutting and luring some players in works if you can hit the right teams.

After Season 2 the Shriners used a lot of our depth to fill a roster of a new team. To recover from those 15 players we moved over to that new team, it took me 2 full offseasons to properly replenish our roster. Patience is key.

We were consistend from BBB to A the last few seasons, but due to some internal problems, we are left with but a few active players. And Greyfox is right, everybody thinks they are a superstar and either want tons of money or that an A league is below them.

I took a gutted team two years ago, and it was a long long road to get where we are now, and we aren't even a "GREAT" team yet, but we have "GREAT" players, it takes awhile to find players that you want to stick around rather then just plugging wholes, depth is the problem though. Hard to find guys willing to play a backup role.
