#1 Calgary Destroyers 11-0-0
The Destroyer's appear to be on a one way trip to Championship town, however, being in the #1 spot at the end of the season has proven to be very unlucky. Week 11 was a convincing defeat of the quickly fading Alberta Irukandji. This week the Destroyer's come off the Longhorn cupcake tour to face the Silly Nannie's. Prediction - Calgary by 10.
#2 Niagara Nightmare 10-1-0
The Nightmare look to continue their dominance of the west. Their only defeat of the year was a nail biter the first game, apparently the sun followed them to Calgary. Expect a match up between the Nightmare and Destroyer's to decide who leaves the wonderful world of A5. Expect Druez to take a few minutes away from game planning or banging his sister to check the outcome of the Calgary vs. Shiloh game. Even though we would never hear the end of it, if the Silly Nannies topple the Destroyer's the Nightmare will move into the #1 spot in the power rankings. This week the Nightmare look to pound the rainbow out of the Carebear's. Prediction - Nightmare by 28.
#3 Saskatoon Sasquatch 10-1-0
The best of the second tier teams. It's hard to call these guys second tier but they aren't quite to the level of being able to defeat Calgary or Niagara, however they could easily spark a few key wins and surprise everyone by winning the West. This week they face a woefully outmatched Piikoi team. Prediction - Saskatoon by 56.
#4 Shilo Silly Nannies 9-2-0
The Silly Nannies continue the success of season four. Two close losses vs Saskatoon and Niagara show the Nannies are a dark horse for the Championship. This week they face a Calgary team that has few flaws. Prediction - Calgary by 10
#5 Unsavory Gentlemen 7-4
What's up with the UG? No one would have predicted four losses by this time in the season. The ship appears to be righted and the team that dominated by rushing the ball last year now has a balanced offense. Gabe Dias leads the league in passing and the Jason and Jason show is piling up yards on the ground. This week they face a Bison team that has a slightly better offense than the local Pee Wee football league...very slightly. Prediction - UG by 49.
#6 Chilliwack Care Bears 6-5
Having faced a brutal early season schedule the Care Bears look to finish by winning 3 out of the final 5 games. This week they face a nearly unbeatable Niagara team. Prediction - Niagara by 28.
#7 Alberta Irukandji 8-3-0
After feasting on bottom and middle tier teams, the Irukandji have lost 3 of their last 5 games and may lose their final 4. This week they face the proud but outmatched Thrashers. The game will be closer than many think. Prediction - Alberta by 21.
#8 Genosha X-men 5-6
The X-Men assume their roles as the team failing to live up to expectations. Plagued by bad luck they have fallen to 5-6 but should win 2 of their final 5 games and have a playoff position game vs the Carebears in week 13. This week they face a Hangmen team that are much better on paper than their 4-7 record. This game could go either way but expect the X-Men to pull it out in the end. Prediction - Genosha by 3.
#9 Prince George 5-6
With a quality W vs the UG and a favorable schedule for the remainder of the season the PGW have a shot at the playoffs but may fail due to a week 8 loss to the X-Men. Much like the X-Men they face the Carebears in a playoff position game (week 14). This week they are pitted against the lowly Demos. Prediction - PGW by 42.
#10 Manitoba Lions 4-7-0
Manitoba looked very promising early on but have won only 1 game out of the last 8. Their playoff lives will hinge on defeating the Hangmen in week 15. With the defeat of the Hangmen the Lions should go 8-8 with the easiest of draws in the eastern conference game. This week they face the offense that put up 126 points...in the first 11 games (70 of which was against the 15 and 16 ranked teams). Prediction - Lions by 42.
#11 Northside Hangmen 4-7-0
Last years doormats are much improved. This year the Hangmen come equipped with a great roster that just can't seem to get over the hump. Their playoff chances are slim as they look to go 7-9 for the season. They have the ability to win the next four games but the luck factor (or game planning) just isn't there. This week they face a tough Genosha team that is also fighting for a playoff spot. Prediction - Genosha by 3.
#12 Saskatchewan Thrashers 4-7-0
A very enthusiastic owner has breathed life into the thrashers but unfortunately his CPR card has been revoked. While he has done more with less better than anyone in A5, the next 5 games appear to be impossible for the Thrashers to win. This week they face a faltering but talented Alberta team who looks to remain in the middle tier pack. An upset would severely hamper the playoff chances of Alberta. Prediction - Alberta by 21
#13 Fhockey.com Demos 2-9-0
The best of the worst. The Demos have an improving lineup but still lack the firepower to make it into the middle eight. This week they face a PGW team who is fighting for their playoff lives. Expect PGW to easily handle the demos. Prediction - PGW by 42.
#14 Sault Ste. Marie Harbingers 2-9-0
The Harbringer's only wins this season are vs the lowly Buffalo and Piikoi. This week they face a Manitoba team looking to get back in the win column. Expect the lions to feast on the CPU center which the Harbringers have thrown in to the starting position. Prediction - Lions by 42.
#15 Buffalo Bison 1-10-0
Thank god for Piikoi. The Bison are the John McCain of Canada A5; you know there is someone worse, but only barely. This week the Buffalo face a UG team that appears to be back to their winning ways. The Buffalo do have a competent safety tandem but will fail to stop the UG offense. Prediction - UG by 49.
#16 Piikoi Jellys 0-11-0
When your kicker and punter are level four AND the same person, it kinda sums things up. At this pace the team could remain winless for 2-3 more seasons. This week the Jellys face the powerhouse Sasquatch; expect the Jelly's to get pounded like Druez's mom at a whore convention. Prediction - Saskatoon by 56.
