Only six games are left in the regular season and we have six teams that are all but eliminated from playoff contention (Mustangs, Machine, Munkees, Brawlers, Colts & Knuckleheads), six teams that are pretty much locked into the playoffs (Reapers, Tommies, Bloodsuckers, Blast, Blues & Cannibals) and fours teams that are in the hunt (Warriors, Monkeys, Wraiths & Outlaws) for the last two playoff spots. Let’s take a closer look at those last four teams.
First up, we have the Warriors. While this team has the best record of the 4 at 6-4, they have lost to both the Monkeys and the Wraiths…they have yet to play the Outlaws. OK…not good so far, and it gets worse. The Warriors still have to play the Blast, Bloodsuckers, Reapers & Cannibals. They could end up at 8-8 or at best 9-7.
Next we have the Monkeys. Last week the Monkeys spanked the Warriors 62-0. They also beat the Wraiths in week 5 and play the Outlaws this week. If they win this week, they will hold tie breakers on the other three. Looking at the rest of the Monkeys' schedule they have a good chance of going 10-6 maybe even 11-5 if they can get by the Cannibals.
Now let’s look at the Wraiths. The Wraiths are 2-1 vs. the other three loosing only to the Monkeys. Looking at their next six games, the Wraiths could go 4-2 making their record 9-7, 8-8 at worst. I’m trying my best to be impartial here.
Finally we take a look at the Outlaws. The Outlaws still have to play both the Warriors and the Monkeys, but more importantly the have to also play the Bloodsuckers, Blast, Reapers and the Dealers (from the Zeta Conference). These four teams combined only have four losses. The road to the playoffs for the Outlaws will be a tough one. At best the Outlaws will finish the season at 8-8, but 7-9 is the more probable outcome.
The Monkeys will get one of the two remaining playoff spots. Based on the strength of the Warriors and Outlaws remaining schedules and the fact that the Wraith hold the tie breakers on both of these teams, one would have to surmise that the Wraith will get that final playoff spot.
