In answer to the question posed in the title...

because the LDE did not have enough speed

Looks like you got pushed back and he went inside. Maybe the RG should have helped you rather than doubling the NT.

He bumped right off of you and you couldn't hold the block. Many things could have happened, str/blk/agi/SAs/individual tactics

The RG picked up the RDE that appeared to be beating the LOT.

I think the RG actually picked up the blitz, but it doesn't matter I guess. The LE simply ran around the RT because he was much faster or more agile or more likely both, happens all the time.

Actually I think the other guys were right, after looking at some things I think it's definitely strength.

How would STR help keep a DE from running around an OT? The OT never even lays a hand on him

I didn't mean it was the tackles strength.

Dimes is right. The RG usually picks up the blitzing LBer, which in this case was the MLB up the gut.

Not enough agility.

Think of it this way:

A very big tree with deep roots cannot be moved...but any person can walk around it.

You are a statue and the DEs are just getting around you. Soft cap your agility and get your speed to 30. Then you should be alright. High blocking and strength does not = "Can't get around me"

I doubt it's an agility issue. Agility is way beyond the softcap. And it looks like the DE takes a straight line, whereas I've seen DEs with higher agility than their opposing tackles beat them with moves, and it looks nothing like that. I wouldn't think speed alone would be enough to beat a tackle with very high blocking and high agility, but I could be wrong. Even in that case, agility should be able to counter speed somewhat. I think the DE pushes the tackle back and uses an inside move to get past him. I've seen this play quite a bit now that I've been looking for it.

Well, the DE never touches the OT in this play. So that immediately eliminates STR/blocking. If the OT has agility soft capped, I think it would be pretty safe to assume that agility can be eliminated. In my opinion, that would leave speed and possibly vision. Only Bort could really confirm that an OT has a chance to predict whether a DE is going to go inside or outside with his pass rush pathing, so it would really be up to your own judgement as far as vision goes. My bet would be to increase speed.

High agility and low speed is still a very slow lineman. No amount of agility is going to make him move faster without speed. I'm pretty sure speed still plays a part in acceleration (smaller after Bort's change to agility), but agility does not increase top speed...they are not interchangeable. You could have 90 agility and 15 speed, but you're still moving at 15 speed, do you know what I mean? This player could turn on a dime, accelerate to top speed probably instantly, but he would still be moving sluggishly because of his 15 speed.

What makes you think the DE never touches the OT?

I see it as untouched, too. Maybe a fingertip, but that's later on. The tackle steps back on the snap while the guard moves inside, and the DE takes an angle right at where the RG was. I'm putting it on vision, maybe some more speed for the RT.
