Average Ranking of Passing offense, Rushing Offense, Scoring offense, Passing Defense, Rushing Defense and Scoring Defense.

Top Five:

1 Heat 2.83 - The Heat are one of just two teams now to rank top ten in every relevant statistical categoy. They are also top two in both overall offense and overall defense. The 'Nites and Ikale Tahi get the publicity, but the Heat have quietly the best team in O-Pro. The Heat face their toughest game to date, however, with today's game against the upstart Fiji Stingers.
2 Ikale Tahi 4.17 - The Tahi move back into the top two, despite a passing offense that is simply average. They are carried by a dominating defense that is first overall in rushing and scoring, and second in passing. Today's game against Auckland will do littel to challenge their standing
3 Pioneers 6.33 - Grinnell may be reeling off two straight losses, and has another brutal game today against West Scranton, but statistically they remain an elite team. They are, in fact, the only other team besides the Heat to rank top ten in every category. Their defense, however, has shown some weaknesses lately, that will have to be addressed if the Pioneers hope to maintain their ranking.
4 Stingers 6.83 - The Stingers make their top 5 debut after the weekly Great Barrier Blowout. But Fiji is no one hit wonder, riding a tough defense and productive running game to stake their claim among the elite. Today's game against the Heat will serve as a true barometer of how talented this team really is.
5 Kava Sharks 7.00 - No one is talking about the Kava Sharks, who have been one of the most consistent members of the top 5. They've had a fairly early first half, but things get tougher in the second half. Today's game against Saipan is little more than a mid season scrimmage in preparation for next "week's" game against Fiji.
6 Nites 8.17
7 Gods 8.33
8 Machine 8.83
9 Invaders 10.50
10 Titans 10.83
11 Incinerators 11.33
12 Mustangs 12.33
13 Crimson Auha 15.17
14 Blitz 15.33
15 Tide 16.83
16 Flying Monkeys 17.67
17 Burning Pride 17.83
18 Thorny Devils 18.17
19 Bandits 19.83
20 Fighters 20.00
21 Fighting Squirrels 20.33
22 Sea Turtles 21.00
23 Strike 21.33
24 Tiger Sharks 22.00
25 Scorpians 22.67
26 Growas 23.33
27 Men O' War 24.50
28 Cardinals 24.83
29 Flames 25.33
30 Dawg Pound 26.17
31 Warriors 28.50
32 Reef Sharks 32.00

Random Observations:
* The Great Barrier Reef Sharks continue in the distinguished position of ranking 32nd in every statistical category.
* Zeta teams hold the 1-4 positions in scoring offense (the Ikale Tahi are the only Alpha team in the top 5 scoring) in large part because of weekly beat downs against Great Barrier Reef Sharks.
* Today's game between the 'Nites and Incinerators is a rematch of one of the more interesting playoff games I've seen in recent memory, in which the 'Nites beat IC 49-40.

We're very workman-like here in Banzai Pipeline.

Scrimmage huh? We have a few tricks in store for the Kava Sharks. And I see an upset in the making.

Wait, I was calling for an upset last game too

This is an entertaining numbers poll. A team with 2 losses in the top 5 (wow). Not saying they are not good, but that is shocking, with a lot of great teams below them.

I thought it was an interesting paradox too, the power ranking vs. the team polls. This ranking has Grinnell as the #3 team while the polled teams dropped them out of the top ten! While they've stumbled lately they're probably somewhere closer to in between the two.

I don't see how you say the Pioneers Defense is coming apart. The Defense let up only one large drive, where all the points scored against us came from turnovers on our offense that lead to immediate scores or 10-yard fields for the defense to defend.

Well, first of all don't react so defensively. I stated that your defense has "shown some weaknesses", not that it is "coming apart." There's a big difference betwen those two statements.

Secondly a few games ago, you were the top ranked defense in O-Pro. In Yards allowed and points allowed, you were in the top 2-3 in every category. Since that time, you've fallen to 7th in pass D (yards), 6th in run D (yards) and 9th in scoring D (points). That's still pretty damn good, just not as good as you once were.

So, you are giving up yards too, not just short 10 yard drives or defensive TDs by the other team. I still think you guys will finish with a top 5-6 defense, but not the top ranked unit you showed early in the season.

An early first half? Do you mean to tell us that the Kava Sharks somehow played their first half games earlier than other teams? By early, do you mean earlier in the day or actually some days before the rest of us? No wonder they're undefeated then; when the other team shows up the game has already been won by VKS. Did they strike a deal with Bort to have their games simmed earlier withouth their opponents knowing about it. I call for a public inquiry!
