Meh, we didn't have a shot in hell this season anyhow, no way I could get a bunch of level 30s on board after coming out of the capped league...should be a good one though.

Not just people coming from capped leagues had that problem so don't worry ;p

We recruited ok.

Did a pretty good job of rebuilding a gut job in SA AA back to playoff contenders in one offseason, too.

Recruiting requires two things. Persisitence and planning.

Shield, I sent out over 600 contracts and 400 PMs, I signed TWO people, TWO. Everyone else is a member of a network of agents I'm involved with.

Seemingly everyone 21 and under is locked down on a capped team as a starter and won't leave. I can't find any non-CPU backups because it's nothing short of impossible to sign a WR or CB not to mention they see the 0-4 and automatically reject my contract. If I end up getting relegated I'm just going to sell my damn team because this shit is just ridiculous.

Not only that, it's quite easy to say these things when your team is 5-0 and has a number of level 30+s, try being on the other end. I'd rather take a gut job at this rate, hell the fucking Texas Storm beat us and they're a gut job so I rest my case.

See, we didn't have those level 30's in the offseason. And we got our butts handed to us by the better teams in the league last season because we made several mistakes. And on the gutted team in South America, we had diddly. Amazingly, ASRW is now 5-0 and playing great nerd football and Valpo (our gut job) is 3-1 and we are starting to trade or cut players who don't fit anymore because of builds or levels. And all we did was make the recruiting process personal and stay persistent. You have to find a way to connect instead of sending out form letters. If you don't have a guy on staff with that ability, find one.

I hesitate to say "it's that simple", because it's not simple.

But it's that simple...

I received the Texas Storm ten days ago with 5 players on it, Maybe your just getting unlucky with your PMs. You should use some of that cash and go on the marketplace or trading block. Hell, I got a couple players id be willing to part with for some cash.

Seemingly to me there's a stigma associated with the little silver trophy in our team's profile, maybe I'm not willing to break the bank to bring free agents in...maybe it's because we're only a second season team, I don't know. I'm not going to blow my money on trades or free agents this season, this season has already proven to be a waste, I don't see us doing much better than 4-12 even if I can grab a few free agents.

I've tried everything to bring free agents on board...I want my 14-2 confernce championship winning team from last season back, this shit sucks hardcore.


Ugh...I don't even know where to go from here.

I undersdtand that sentiment also. The primary mistake I made last season was holding tight to the guys I started with in Season 3. In this league, if you aren't getting better you are getting worse. This offseason we recruited talnet upgrades. You see the early results...

Recruiting is a 24/7 job. I try to get everyone sigend to 2 year deals so I don't have to worry about FA too much during the FA season since its hard to recruit if you don't have a trophy.

Yea I had the same... people might make it seem easy here but I don't agree. I sent out just as many offers and PM's. I started out with doing the first 100 offers with personal PM's, plans and stories then switched to a more general but personal sounding template, all to no avail. At one point you start offering more and more over their requested salary up to absurd amounts, and still all are denied.

I figure there's a considerable amount of luck involved ;p

Here's a helpful hint. Take care of the guys you do have because they can get word of mouth out to other players that your team is awesome. They will even bring over more of their own guys if they really like the team.

Well that's how it's been going now indeed, it's the only reason our team still exists.

But I would like some more fresh blood in the team as well... brings something new to the forums a bit and everything.
