Edit crap misspelled underwear and predictions in the title

Quote of the week,
"I love me some me"--Terrell Owens

Marquee Games:

Austin Vs. Lima

Austin taps into the Orangeblood network each off season and drums up some suitable talent but has never been able to emerge from the middle of the A8 pack. This year it seems to be different-they have put it together so far but Team Winner doesn't amount to squat and the Sharks despite having probably the most congenial owner in the league are usually always middle of the pack.

Lima on the other hand just exploded last week for 38 2nd quarter points to massacre a perennial playoff team in the Phoenix Elves. I give the nod to Lima here for two reasons-tougher road so far and they are not UT fans.

Austin does win for best avatar of A8 (3rd straight title!)

Waller Vs. Putnam Co.
Putnam lost to Waller after their furious 4th quarter come back ended last year with a diving tackle by the Knights cornerback on their player at the 1 inch line as time expired (I am not exaggerating http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=93153&pbp_id=2033847).

Anyway I am picking the Knights to win but Cincy knows how good I think his Putnam team is, I have told him many times, in fact I figured they would make it out of A8 last year if we did not (I was wrong on both accounts).

Death Valley Vs. Florida

I would never risk Karma by picking Florida to lose, but Extmenace (when he wasn't being banned and jailed by Bort) spent the last part of the offseason trying to repair the damage done by some malcontents on his roster so I don;t really know what he brings to the table this year.

Using the Avalon/TomCollins method of level analysis I look at their roster and see a lot of twenty somethings where there should be some thirty somethings so I am concerned that our fiercest rival may have lost a step. Plus they have played 3 creampuffs and lost to their only challenge 17-0.

Death Valley is the new kid with all the measurables (i.e. levels and wins). Just look at their games with the class of the East Crimson and Vermont (at least so far) and they look for real.

I will pick them to win this game.

Manhatten Vs. Nashville

I never pay much attention to the east beyond Vermont and my week 16 opponent but only a blind man wouldn't know how much these two teams keep the forums lively with their posts etc.

Based on the Fact that Manhattan lost to Tucson while Nashville beat Austin I pick Nashville to win as I rate Austin ahead of Tucson atm.

Crimson Vs. New Hampshire

New Hampshire looks like a class organization with an owner who literally hulks around the Defensive coordinator forums offering good advice so you know they know what they are doing.

Crimson is kind of like the Knights in that they are formed by a bunch of guys with at least 10 years of online gaming time tying them together. This means they are unselfish, don't whine about playing time and take salary cuts for the good of the team. it is a lethal combination for their opponents and I look for Crimson to win

Vermont over the Pimps

Vermont is the real deal, and i will find this out soon enough first hand on Day 7. The pimps are up and coming and at least they care and they do post so I want to root for the underpimp here but I don't see anyway they win.

Rhode Island over the Beasts

Rhode Island keeps getting better, the Beasts are X men fans so I can dig that. Hey I liked the X-man back when Phoenix was simply Jean Grey the Psychic. One Christmas in the 8th grade I read issues 45-183 that a friend gave me from his collection while repeatedly listening to my Journey Frontiers cassette tape-but I digress. Rhode Island for the win!

Las Vegas over Tucson

Las Vegas is a one man show (more or less) but they will be in the West picture until the bitter end. Tucson is a good squad and you got to love the mullet avatar but they lose here.

Seattle over West Lawn

Seattle once dominated the Knights in season 2 and they look to get back to the glory days with a big win here.

Sharks over the Krakens in a yawner

Sharks are like America's team. What can you really say bad about the Sharks or their classy owner? They may not win the west this year, but they usually upset more than one unsuspecting foe

Not much thought into these four picks:

Phoenix over Cleveland- At least for quarters 1,3, and 4

Montana over the Low Country Gators

Moon doggies going for 250+ on team winner (misnomer?)

Thorndale over Bowdoin -Always root for Texas High School Football teams!

Woodys over Shipheads

The Woodys owner came out kind of strong week 1 but I don't think he is really as bad as he portrayed himself. He probably felt the need to come out swinging to grab some turf in A8. He has the Horses to win the east but so do about 3 other teams so it will be a good season to watch. This week he wins.

Detroit over the Purples

I know the purples felt they had to start a do-over but I hope they don't miscalculate and get relegated. They move one step closer to that reality this week.

minor misspellings aren't really a big deal, at least you got the week number right

gg, i really don't think it's possible for anyone else making predictions to even compete with you if you can keep coming up with gems like this, probably the best thing i've ever read in a post on GLB

Heh, you should see some of the PMs I get... At least with my guys I can tell them to buzz off and stop whining, and they know I'm at least trying to figure out what they are whining about...

And DON'T Try to cut the salaries of our offensive line... They have shopping sprees all scheduled, and heaven help you if they run out of cash!

Definitely don't have the horses to win the East IMO. I don't think we get past Crimson or Vermont, even if we get lucky.

1. Totally agree with your ranking of us vs. Crimson. We have yet to prove anything here, and our all-star special teams of last season have turned into a charity this season. No way we're going to win the tough ones til we can tighten the ship a bit and make up for the players we lost that made ST tick.
We're hoping to keep it close, but currently expect to start 0-3 before we start picking it up some here.
We had to throw two major upsets last season to get here, so it'll be a work in progress for a bit. I appreciate the compliment though. We'll get it going.

2. I'm not the owner of the Hustlers. Just the DC. I'm just on more often than he is.

Seems to be a common mistake people get about you. Booster is just to quiet.

I wouldn't worry too much, the Strikers had the same problem last year with a horrid start, but they won like 11 of their last 12 to comfortably qualify for the playoffs, as will you

Boooo, but surely our historical record must come into it? <cough 2 - 0 >

j/k

Seriously though Smilies, how the hell have you not beaten us before now? I'm sure we've been pretty equal up to this point (though if the match profile is correct, not any more)

I'm not worried about it. We looked at our schedule, and predicted 0-3 to 1-2 for this stretch of the season in my season review. We've gone 0-2 3 of our 4 seasons, and we have a couple easier stretches coming up. I have no doubt we'll do fine this season. Our starting schedule was just brutal.

It's always good to know where you stand against the better teams in the division early on, gives you time to work things out come playoff time. (or you can just get lucky like we do all the time )

Sometimes it's good to work out how you fare against the best teams early on, gives you more time to look at them for when the playoffs start. (or just get really lucky all the time like us )

Absolutely no question. We have some fantastic scouts to help the coordinators. There's no way we would have beaten NBSK in the playoffs without having the first loss to them to give us something to work with. Previous years' games had never been close enough to give any info.
Pretty much the same with the Vikings. The scrimmage they challenged us to helped a lot.

Not having to look ahead to Vermont, Crimson or the Woodys doesn't hurt scouting either.
