Well they're not Power Rankings as everyone started with an 0-0 record so they're just....Rankings...anyway heres what happened in Western Europe AA#2, in season 5 week 1....*drum roll*

Disclaimer: for the new guys I tend to alter the names of a few teams…just for fun…if you don’t understand you’re either a little bit thick or you’ll have to take a look at the players on the team (I’m thinking Simpson’s especially for this one)…anyway eventually you’ll get the hang of it…or stop reading these stupid Power Rankings threads that I keep posting…either way everyone’s a winner!!

Alpha

Team Liquid @ Avengers 0-107
The Avengers where the first team to face a gutted Team Liquid an boy did it show, The Avengers clocked up 796yrds of total offence, allowing Liquid only 118.5yrds, although when their roster is made up of only 15 Human players this was expected!
The star of the show has to be HB Corry Boyd – USC, who rushed for 253yrds & 3TD’s against the pitiful Liquid Defence…it’s a shame really as TL where a force to be reckoned with these last few seasons and to see them shipping this amount of points is something I’m sure most will agree is not good…oh well…Congratumalations to the Avengers, getting off to a 3 figure victory is no mean feat!

Pigs @ Pirates 93-14
It’s safe to say that the Pirates are an expansion team, they are built up solely of level 5’s, so this is going to be a loooooong season for them although they still managed to put up a very respectable 250yrds against the Pigs.
Buckingham look to be leaning very much towards the run this season with 485 of their 668yrds coming on the ground and with speed HB Second Coming they have someone who will be very tough to stop this season…although if he keeps his build OPEN people will find a way!

Massacre @ Simpson’s 44-31
Both of these teams have been on the fringe of the playoffs for the last two seasons and I imagine that will be the case this season as well so a victory for Brussels so early in the season is invaluable.
Personally I think the reason the Massacre came out on top is their ability to switch from ground to air with 286yrds on the ground & 200yrds in the air in this game. The god damn Simpson’s on the other hand only attempted 20 rushes in this game, struggling to gain any yardage at all with only 50yrds from those 20!
All in all a comfortable victory for the massacre.

Tigers @ PDB 28-38
The Dream Bolts got one of the toughest opening games in Alpha this season and would have wanted to make the most of an early opportunity to get one over their championship rivals…and they did.
PDB’s threw up pass after pass on the Tigers with an impressive 10.3yrds per pass, the Tigers seemed to struggle to get their, usually impressive running game off the ground and when they allowed 21pts in the 2Q they were always going to struggle to get back into the game, in the end the 10 point deficit was a fair reflection.

Glutons @ Foy 24-36
The new guys in Alpha got off to a decent start with a 12 point victory over the Glutons, even though it would appear they are having a few player issues with a “Large” member of their team this didn’t seem to affect their performance in week 1.
Their rushing game seemed to carry them through this game with both HB’s clocking up over 100yrds. The Glutons on the other hand struggled to do anything on the ground with only 68yrds showing that maybe these guys from Foy know their stuff on Defence as well…only time will tell.

Storm @ Annoyed Celts 10-30
The Celts stormed to a victory in their opener against the storm…huh…stormed against the storm…it’s as if I rehearsed this…anyway…hammering them with their passing game putting up 320yrds in the air. All in all a good victory for the Scots!

Mafia dons @ Sentinals 17-26
The Mafia dons really gave the sentinels a run for their money in this game, restricting them to a measly 274yrds of total offense but they still couldn’t grab the W in a very close game. Could it be that the Mafia have grown in stature over the close season?....i don’t know I can’t be bothered to compare but they look good!!

Boghoppers @ Eagles 20-13
The second set of newcomers to Alpha created the biggest upset of week 1…up to now…with an excellent victory over the fancied Eagles and any team to constrict the Eagles to 37.5yrds on the ground are going to do well in AA#2 so the Dogboppers could be a team to watch out for this season…although Zeta is still stronger!

Zeta

Spartans @ Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaze 144-0
That’s right folks 144-0…surely you must be wondering if the Spartans have gone on a Permian style recruitment drive or are the Haaaaaaaze really that bad!?
Well lady & gentlemen I can tell you that although it would appear the Spartans have improved their roster slightly in the off-season the Haaaaaaaaaaze (that’s going to get annoying to type!!) are truly awful, their roster contains 3 human players, one of which is a kicker, all of which are inactive & owned by the teams owner…who has perhaps been dabbling in a little too much of the green stuff if he thinks they’re going to be able to continue with 3 human players!
Berlin clocked up 590 rushing yards in this game and probably could have scored more…well done

Arlanda @ Vikings 3-91
Some stunning game planning by the Vikings OC/Owner culminated in this stunning victory for the Vikings…..the Vikings offence was crap….?....what…..the OC couldn’t get online all weekend and this was a little bit lucky…combined with the fact they would have had to be blind & stupid to come up with a game plan to LOSE this game?...fine…well done to HB’s Hoof Hearted & Jimmy Robinson who rushed for a combined….whatever 158.5+136.5 is yards in this game & DT Moe Lester who had 10 Tackles, 2 hurries & 2 FF’s in this game…hopefully the Vikings OC will pull his finger out for this game….whoever he maybe!!

Romantic Rockstars…I don’t think one of those exists…I’ll call them…oooh a chance for interaction…whoever can come up with the funniest name for the “Romantic Rockstars” will have the…”Honour” of me calling them that for the rest of the season…answers on a post card please..@ Conchords 82-3
Venice won easily…scored lots of points….rushed for a lot of yards…are VERY good…my attention for this game has been totally taken by the competition sorry!!

Husavik @ Spanish Spartans 68-7
Husavik still appear to be relying on the aerial route to get their yards although not quite as much as last season, HB Jamie “Thunder” Harper even managed 100+yrds in this game, which was always going to be a Husavik victory.

Narcissus & the pissedchimp @ Lightening 56-20
Well for all of you that thought we’d got rid of the guys behind the Hippos (Lyon not hungry hungry) I’m sorry to say that they’re back with the junior version of the Hippos…the Rotterdam Cheetahs and it looks as though their philosophy is similar this season as it was last, use the run to grind people down & then pass on their weakened bloodied corpses..and what do you know…it worked and they clocked up 600+yrds in the process…they are serious contenders this season…again!!!!

Fire @ Bridges 42-52
The Fire will have been hoping to get off to a good start against the bridges…but they didn’t!
This ended up as a shootout with 800+yrds going through the air, the difference between the two teams though….turnovers, the fire lost 5 the bridges lost 0!

Hippos (Hungry Hungry NOT Lyon) @ Firestorm 17-30
The new hippos ran the Firestorm pretty close in this one, but again everything came down to turnovers, with the Firestorm winning that battle 2-0!
The Hippos will face much easier opponents this season, but they will also face much tougher opponents. It looks as though they are a shoe in for the playoffs but we will see…my prediction is 6th.

Panthers @ Demons 20-23
What a great result! The panthers have gutted their parent team the Nice daulphins to upgrade themselves this season and it looks as though their game planning skills have transferred as well, the daulphins were poor in a very strong WEPL and I’m hoping the panthers are this season, an excellent performance from Lyon, although their aerial assault on Permian did come as quite a shock due to their usual reliance on the rushing game…could this be down to the HB pathing issues? Or could this be a change of tact from the Demons?...i think I know the answer but it’s a secret

Anyway, these are the po….the Rankings for week 1…they don’t mean much but I’ve done them anyway!

Cheers for the heads-up Phish.

I guess my countless reminders on the team forum count for nothing. Time to lay down the law
