Back to the Predictions for Elephant. I can't believe how hard it's going to be this season to predict with the depth we have yet again. There's a few teams that are way below due to gutting, but at least they should duke it out to stay in AAA. So here we go!
High Plains Drifters 1-0 @ Kampala Kerels 0-1
Quiz question: What team has the longest win streak in the entire Elephant Conference? NO PEEKING!!! It's the Drifters of course. Without much of a challenge in week one, they don't get one here either. Kampala has built up a reasonable roster in a short period of time, but they won't compete with the teams that stuck around. Drifters win their 2nd game of the season about 8 weeks earlier than last season, but get some challenges in the weeks that follow.

GOTW 1*San Dimas Saints 0-1 @ Kilimanjaro Sno Caps 1-0
What do you get when you have an owner that owns the entire team and still decides to sign all of his players to "No trade" Clauses? You get one of our newest members to Africa AAA, the Sno Caps!!! While I don't know a damn thing about them, most of us in GLB have become quite weary of these Zombie teams. They are usually built to suit and they ALWAYS follow the game plan tactics. I still don't understand why people want to create these teams as they cost a fortune and seem like they miss a large portion of what makes GLB fun, the people. I guess it also avoids what makes GLB a pain in the ass, the people. The Saints lost week 1 to LAX on two eXtreme TDs in the final 1:30, OUCH! After a 13-3 season, they don't want to go down in their first two games. On paper, the Sno Caps look tough and I can't say I know enough about them yet to make anything more than a guess at this game. Saints find a way.
Saints 27 Sno Caps 21
GOTW 2*African Killer Bees 1-0 @ Eaton Beavers 1-0
After last season's playoff game, the Bees will definitely be looking for payback. I'll save any commentary for after the game.
Nothing but love and respect for these guys. Good luck!
GOTW 3*Mozambique Thundercats 1-0 @ Los Angeles eXtreme 1-0
The Thundercats crave that notoriety that they so believe they deserve. Giving up 30 points to a recently gutted team and over 300 yards in the air isn't a way to gain it. It's put up or shut up time for them this week as they play one of the Elephant Conference's perennial powerhouses, LAX. I've heard a lot about how amazing Lucky Louse is and how his OLine has just sucked in the past. They sought to improve that this season and face one of the best Rush defenses in the league out of the gate. Last season the score was 45-17. Fiorentino and company will make life tough for Mozambique again. I just don't see them getting it done here.

GOTW 4*Morocco Camels 1-0 @ Gold Coast Corsairs 0-1
GC has shown moments where they look like the best team in the entire league, and then they've shown moments that have made them be silent in the forums for a week and claim that they were banned. These two teams could arguably be the best two teams in the conference and when they met last season, it was a great game that the Camels pulled out 27-24. In week 1, both teams scored victories over solid opponents and have looked good in the pre-season. For some reason, GC has no punter still and only 4 LBs. Might that hurt them? The Camels are coming off a late season surge that landed them in the Conference title game. They'll look to stay on track this season. Both of these teams were knocked out by the eventual champion Tractors and look to build on that success this year. Camels are the paper favorites but not by much. If the Corsairs can completely make Morocco one-dimensional, they'll win. Unfortunately, they're not that well run and fall to 0-2. All part of the master plan though guys!
Camels 27 Corsairs 24
Kinshasa Rumblers 1-0 @ The ALL 0-1
Elephant welcomes zombie team number 2 to the league. Another rich, bored guy...hooray. The ALL have fielded a roster that might compete in Canada BBB, unfortunately for them, they'll be moving down at the end of the season unless they do something drastic.
Rumblers 146 ALL 0
Mogadishu Malice 0-1 @ Sahara Sandstorm 0-1
The old Wildcats have done a great job building a decent team. They were able to put up 30 on Mozambique, but the defense has no depth and that kills them in the end. The Malice look STRONG this season and could finally be in a position to really scare some people. They could be this season's Jinx, unfortunately for them, the rest of the conference didn't fall off too much. The Malice lost a heart-breaker in week one as they threw an INT with under 2 minutes to go, down 2 and already in field goal range, Ouch! I think they proved that they are legit though and will be in the thick of things this season. They'll roll here.
Malice 66 Sandstorm 10
Serengeti Wildebeest 0-1 @ River Styx Jinx 0-1
The Jinx lost a tough one on opening day, but could be real contenders this season. The Wildebeest need to make some moves to stay in AAA.
