Ok, time for me to take a stab at that "other" conference and hand off the keys to Alpha to fool.
Zeta Week 2
Game of the week
The Elephant Riders 1-0 (+12) at Jakarta Jack Hammers 1-0
Last games:
The Elephant Riders vs. Manila Envelopes 93-0
Da Nang Yellow Jackets vs. Jakarta Jack Hammers 7-91
Two big offenses in week 1, both putting up over 90 points. Jakarta has the leading passer (Donny McNabb 310 yds, 4 TDs) and leading rusher (Steven Jackson 483 yds, 6 TDs) in all of Zeta after 1 game. Right behind this pair are the Riders tandem of Ryan Anderson (266 yds, 4 TDs) and neil o’fallon (330 yds, 7 TDs). Going to be a shoot out one might think. Then again, the Jack Hammers played the hapless Yellow Jackets in week 1. Manila ain’t exactly a powerhouse either, but only one team approaches 90 in this one. It’s a stampede: Riders 77 Jack Hammers 14
Other games
The Pretenders 1-0 at Singapore Flames 1-0 (+12)
Last games:
Thung Yai Tigers vs. Singapore Flames 19-84
The Pretenders vs. Midway Maulers 28-20
Another battle of 1-0 teams. No pretending in this one though, the Flames formally welcome the “fakers” to the conference. Flames by 50.
Bangkok Blue Demons 1-0 (even) at Garut Fire Horses 0-1
Last games:
Bangkok Blue Demons vs. SBI Waves 63-9
Garut Fire Horses vs. Thailand Cheap Toys 17-41
Would have been the game of the week except that Garut got whipped in the back alley of K-Mart in week 1. Worse this week as the Demons ride the Hobby Horses. Blue Demons by 42.
Thung Yai Tigers 0-1 at Thailand Cheap Toys 1-0 (+3)
Last games:
Garut Fire Horses vs. Thailand Cheap Toys 17-41
Thung Yai Tigers vs. Singapore Flames 19-84
The Toys weren’t so cheap in week one with an impressive win. A few more of those and FAO Schwarz just might come calling. Cheap Toys by 21.
Kapres Smoking Giants 0-1 at San Fran Gold Rush 1-0 (+18)
Last games:
Sault Ste Marie Metalheads vs. San Fran Gold Rush 10-28
Kapres Smoking Giants vs. Kyoto Samurai 3-96
Ok, the Giants got welcomed to the league by the team formerly known as Davao. You thought that was ugly? How about a team that isn’t facing the filet knife? Gold Rush by 110.
Sault Ste Marie Metalheads 0-1 (+3) at Manila Envelopes 0-1
Last games:
Sault Ste Marie Metalheads vs. San Fran Gold Rush 10-28
The Elephant Riders vs. Manila Envelopes 93-0
The Gold Rush found a soft chin on the Metalheads in week one. They bounce back nicely though as the Envelopes just aren’t big enough for this one. Metalheads by 42
SBI Waves 0-1 (+6) at Kyoto Samurai 1-0
Last games:
Bangkok Blue Demons vs. SBI Waves 63-9
Kapres Smoking Giants vs. Kyoto Samurai 3-96
Davao Destruction are gone, new owner mg76570 got a 96-3 win over the Smoking Giants but how long before Davao plummets? Not long at all, appears that the mass exodus is happening already and a few other may ride a Wave out of town. Waves by 21.
Upset special
Da Nang Yellow Jackets 0-1 at Midway Maulers 0-1 (+9)
Last games:
The Pretenders vs. Midway Maulers 28-20
Da Nang Yellow Jackets vs. Jakarta Jack Hammers 7-91
Wow, really reaching for any upsets here this week as I see very few competitive games. Since both these are relatively unknowns, I’ll buy a Yellow Jacket pendant for the day. Yellow Jackets by 3.
