New faces, new attitude, new seat please!

By RED HALBERSTEIN, GLB News Wire

KHYMER -- Khymer Ruins opened its new stadium sections Wednesday. By Thursday, one of those new seats had to be replaced.

"Sorry about that," said a sheepish Ian Vucinic. "I've already paid for a new one."

Vucinic's apology was sincere, but nobody in Cambodia gives a crap. The new rocket-armed Mountain Men quarterback shattered the seat with one his passes, a 20-yard end zone slant route pass that wide receiver Damn Haole said he never saw.

"I felt something whizz by my head, like a bullet," Haole said. "I get goosebumps just thinking about it. I think I'm lucky to be alive."

Vucinic leads a gang of new faces for the Cambodia Mountain Men, a team with aspirations for the playoffs.

Just one season removed from an abrupt ownership change, the Mountain Men spent the offseason sorting through volumes of available players to heavily recruit the best of the bunch.

Cambodia's turnover is a big one: new quarterback, new running back, three new receivers, a pair of new tight ends, some new lineman and a slew of new faces peppering the defense.

How soon they can pull together as a team will go a long way to determining their fate this season.

"Yeah, we got a lot of new faces," one team official said. "But we got a lot of core players returning, too. I think we'll be good."

Even the often lackluster Moutain Men fanbase is buzzing about this year's team, even more so after Vucinic broke one of the new seats.

"They built new seats?" one elderly lady gushed. "I love new seats! I'm definitely going now!"

The Mountain Men have finally gotten internet service in Batdambang. It took awhile to run that cable (damn natives had no clue about satellites) but we are on the web now!!! Check us out:

Thanks to GM jaredo for helping the Cambodians figure out how to get this done.

Official statement from ticketinginformationandpricingstuff@CambodiaMountainMenAmericanFootballTeam.com:

"On Thursday night, our ticketing servers were confiscated by Google.com, which claims it needs extra bandwidth to supply results for internet searches involving the words 'Sarah Palin' 'bikini' and 'unqualified'. Cambodia has begun selling tickets from the back of a Winnebago outside Khymer Ruins. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
