The Rats announced their opening day starter at running back in what is a deep roster position. The Rats revealed that veteran HB Steve Kay would get the nod over last year's starter Donner BatteringRam. "Kay made the most of his opportunities splitting time with BatteringRam last season." stated the Rats GM Donner "We felt it only appropriate to reward Steve with a start."

Kay averaged 4.9 YPC on 101 carries last year for a total of 496.5 yds and 1 TD. When Kay was reached for comment he reportedly said "Thanks guys...will be fun. I promise a 6-pack of beers, 2 lbs of buffalo wings and a stripper (named paris) for each of the guys on our offense if we rush for over 100." Teammate and the "Thunder" to Kay's "Lightning" BatteringRam laughed and stated "He might as well hand it over now!"

The Rats averaged 194.5 rushing yards over their last 8 games with a high of 452 yards against the Texas FBG Winebats as BatteringRam joined Kay in the Canadian A League's most prolific tandem.

For general distribution:

The Rats announced the acquisition of CB Brett Norton from Free Agency. "You don't see a player the caliber of Norton available on the market very often," stated Gm Donner "so we feel very pleased to have acquired him."

Norton had a very good rookie year, racking up 51 tackles, 4 interceptions and 17 passes defensed in 12 games. Norton kept up the pace with 18 tackles, 1 interception and 3 passes defensed in 5 games this season. Norton was originally on the roster of the Boston Hoodlums and was traded to the Nevada Dice three days before his contract was to expire. "Brett is the last piece in the puzzle for us, we will take this roster into the playoffs this year. Brett is going to be playing all over the secondary for us, we feel comfortable with him anywhere. Those teams have no idea what they lost. Their loss is our gain"

The Rats have averaged 182.4 passing yards allowed over their last 5 games, putting them in the middle of the pack and have allowed 3 passing touchdowns. The Rats currently lead the league in interceptions with 12 and are tied for 3rd in sacks with 8. "We're looking to Brett to help us with those numbers." stated Donner.

When reached for comment about the signing, Norton reportedly stated,"Let's kick some ass!"
