I for one like the idea that Anti-Mods is gone... After season 3 they went ape signing high levels and bailing out on the season 3 lower level guys, going for the mercenary setup that kills the game for some of us...

I know it's the way things are and could be blamed on Bort, but loyalty to good guys is a good thing...

My friend and I got this team. 300K in the hole and only a handful of players signed beyond Season 5 day 1.

What about stadium construction though? They were a home seed... they shouldn't be broke...

If money is an issue, PM support, they generally give you seed money to rebuild a team with. But not if you have millions tied up in stadium construction.
