The reamstown and New York conference championship was very, very close. Ramrods offense couldn't do much against the strikers D and the strikers, who had the majority of offensive possession in the game couldn't punch it into the endzone which resulted in a lot of FGs by them.
Reamstown only scored 2 rushing TDs against the strikers partly due to limited very limited offensive snaps but also partly due to the strikers' D. What kept us in the game was a TD return on KOR. And we ultimately won it when, being down 2 and 1:44 left in the 4th quarter we kicked a 48 yd FG (only one of the game) to win 24-23.
Moral of this story... Ramrods and strikers game was very, very close and could have easily have been a strikers win, if we had missed that 48yd FG and/or if our KR, Skip Hicks hadn't returned one of the kickoffs for a TD (just one missed/broken tackle really made the difference).
I kinda feel sorry for the Strikers since the game was this close and the Ramrods are gonna disband at season end. It would have been better to show USA AA the high caliber of USA A#8 teams then to show them a gutted team come next season...
Anyways very well played game.
*Edit: I see that the strikers are selling their team as well... in that case I don't feel sorry for us winning this game since whoever won would still send a gutted team to USA AA. I just wish that in cases that the conference/league champions sell their teams, that the "next in line" team would move up.
