This is it folks, time to see who goes on to Canada AA and who stays in Canada A with the rest of the teams. Laval vs Port Moody in the West and Puvirnituq vs Winnipeg in the East. Should be two hell of a good football games.
The teams in these two games have a lot riding on this game. Not just the promotion either. The teams playing in this game will not get a chance to play each other next season. One of them will be in Canada A and the other one will be in Canada AA.
As much as I love playing in this league, I will be willing to sacrifice all of that to move on to Canada AA. Of course if I lose, then I will enjoy at least one more season in Canada A. But either way, will miss the rivalry of Port Moody. I wish them skill and luck in this next game. I also wish the same for Puvi and Winnipeg.
Now for my prediction for the East Championship Game:
Winnipeg Wolves vs Puvirnituq Musketeers - The last time these two team met was an awesome clash of the titans. They were both undefeated with records of 12-0 when the Wolves came into Puvi for the epic battle. This game went back and forth with Puvi pulling it out with a game winning FG with 18 seconds left to win 23-21. The game lived up to the hype.
Now it is Win vs Puvi II and what a battle it should be. Puvi has not only been winning games but they have been bragging how there is no one good enough to stop them from moving on up. The Wolves lost another game after losing that close game to Puvi. They know they have a tough challenge ahead of them but they feel they are more than up for the task.
Puvi's stadium is packed with fans and reporters. I heard that are even scouts from Canada AA league down watching the game to see how good the team that comes up is really. Puvi's fans were there at the stadium 24 hours before kickoff tailgating. Drunken fans are nothing new here.
The game itself it another classic. Puvi starts off with a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Wolves do the only scoring in the second quarter but it is only a FG so they are still down 7-6 at the half. Puvi gets 10 points in the 3rd quarter and the Wolves only get another 3. Puvi is leading going into the 4th quarter 17-9. Early in the 4th quarter, Wolves scores their first TD of the game and pull within 1 of Puvi. What a game we got going on here. Then Puvi answers with a FG of their own and now lead 20-16 with under 4 minutes to go in the game. The Wolves get the ball and get to mid-field with no trouble and still plenty of time left. Then Puvi's D tightens up and the Wolves keep moving but are stuck on a 4th and 5 on Puvi's 25 yard line with 2:45 left in the game. A great pass gets the Wolves a 1st down on Puvi's 17. Two plays later and they get a 1st down on Puvi's 5 with 1:11 left to play. Two incompletes and it is now 3rd down and goal with 55 seconds left when Statue Of Liberty throws the ball to the leftside at the goal line when Marvin McLoo steps in front of the pass and returns the interception for a TD and Puvi wins 27 - 16. Puvi wins by 11 but it is a lot closer than the score shows.
